I'm new here, but saw the BSG thread and had to chime in. I thought the third season got a lot of flak it didn't deserve, but I do agree that the quality dropped some around the middle. The beginning and ending was great though.
The problem the season had wasn't exactly that the writers changing the original plot so much as why they had to change it. Sci-fi channel pressured the show to alter its format because they were afraid that the serialized nature of the show was too much for viewers to keep up with. The network wanted more stand alone episodes, and ended up winning the battle. The result of forcing the show into doing more stand alone eps was what we saw, a decline in quality. I think it should be said though, that even though it wasn't what the writers originally planned, it still ended up being one of the best shows on tv. That speaks to the talent of the cast and crew being able to make subpar material into something still enjoyable.
You'd think Sci-fi would have learned the lesson of messing around with the creator's vision from the decline in ratings and praise. However, they are currently looking at splitting season 4 in half. They want to give us half the episodes in 2008 and the rest in 2009. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't really enjoy the idea of waiting until late 2009/early 2010 to complete my dvd collection.

But welcome to the forums Omega

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

UK viewers rejoice! Razor will be released on DVD on 26 December. I'm also hearing that Sky One will show the movie on 4 December as a special event.

Razor webisodes preview.
There are old-school Cylon Raiders and a basestar in there, as well as a battlestar burning up in a planet's atmosphere. Very impressive.

Nice one, check it out. I wasn't expecting a Season 4 promo for another few months but they've put one together quite early:
Looks better than Season 3, anyway
The current series of small clips is referred to as 'flashbacks', not 'webisodes'. The flashbacks form a 16-minute sequence taken out of Razor that was cut for time purposes and divided into eight two-minute chunks which air every Friday during Flash Gordon (or wait a few hours until they're up on the Sci-Fi Channel, or visit the Ragnar Anchorage website who are also hosting them, apparently region-free as well). The TV version of Razor will not have the flashbacks but the DVD release will.

No, it won't for those living outside the United States (I imagine SFC webtechs running around screaming "Unclean! Unclean!" as dirty Europeans and Canadians try to access their precious webisodes).
Luckily this fansite is hosting them as well, with the BSG production team's knowledge.

Just saw Webisode 4. I think they're pumping Young Adama up into some kind of unstoppable badass a bit too much:

Yeah, the guy playing young Adama is pretty terrible - sometimes you think he's just trying to do some kind of EJO impersonation. But I think if these webisodes were viewed in their appropriate context we wouldn't mind so much...
