Thats just it, I have no idea. I'm assuming she failed in whatever it was she was trying to do, but it never says.

@Tapper. Yeah, she's gone on mine too and i'm on console. Gothos, in act 3 you get a letter asking you to find her on the Wounded Coast and she is nowhere to be seen.

Hm. I never got that letter across two playthroughs, I think.

I thought that was it. However I usually fall on the side of the mages (except when they go loony). Which is funny since mages in DA are like psykers in 40k and I have a hair trigger when around those.

Yeah, as far as templars are sometimes kind of dicks, it really IS neccessary in this game. I mean, holy shit, you don't need a Blight to cause total mayhem, just get a few mages to go postal. It's insane. I have a hard time symapthizing with them.

Yeah, I sided with the mages and by the end I was very much regretting that decision. Even the 'good' ones turned insane eventually. As for Anders? Hoo boy, that was unforgivable no matter how you look at it.

The ending was an infuriating cliffhanger, but looks like we'll be seeing one hell of a showdown in DA3.

I had to pick up my jaw from the basement at what Anders did. I think you could hear the Warden facepalm even on the other side of the world.

Btw which ending do you think Bioware considers to be the cannon one - siding with the mages or the templars? Just curios as to what people think. I always considered Morrigan's ritual and Alistair as king to be the canon DA:O ending and that does seem to be the default option if you don't import a save.

It's hard to tell what would be canon. Branding Hawke the Champion, and not the Viscount, of Kirkwall by the Seeker implies that he sided with the mages. But I don't think any 'canon' exists, really. If there's a scenario I'd WANT to be canon, it would be this: (starting with Origins)

Heh, Isabela's chats with Bethany, Merrill and Sebastian are simply priceless I must say :p

Also, 2h warrior is fucking insane against most stuff. Against the Arishok, however, I had to tune down to Casual to beat him in a duel ;)
Also: Templar spec rocks, especially the AoE (doing like 500 to demons now) and 50% magic resistance passive. I coupled it with Reaver with frenzy and the haste passive at the end.
Good stuff. I'm not really much enthralled with Berserker.

I love the incessant bickering between Isabela and Aveline... at one point after Aveline marries Dorric they are having an absolutely awesome chat of the dangers of Isabela being around while Aveline's raising her kids.

Isabela and Varric have some hilarious dialogues, and I love Varric ripping on Carver. Isabela and Varric are easily the two best characters, and they're both awesome in combat too, provided you pump Isabela with some willpower so she can actually last through a decent fight without guzzling stamina draughts.

Did anyone find playing a mage boring? I absolutely adored playing my Archer on Hard, even the Arishok fight solo wasn't very difficult, just time consuming and involving lots of running away when my decoy ability and stealth skills were cooling down. With the awesome longbow you get pretty much right at the start of Act 3, I was pulling off 500 hp with a normal hit, over 1k with criticals (and critical chance was around 85%), not to mention the way-overpowered Assassinate skill (add in Petrify and Death Hex and the damage is unbelievable).

But with mage I just ended up spamming a lot of the same spells, and didn't really pack that much of a wallop. I was a Primal/Force mage with a little bit of Entropy (for Horror and the Hexes), so I could at least halt or immobilise every enemy in its tracks at a whim (even the Rock Wraith), but it was still rather boring. Sure, with my Archer it was a lot of auto-attacking, but at least I was still pretty powerful even without my abilities. Hell, you could ignore the Archer skills completely and still be pretty decent. Is there a funner combination to try? Haven't done a Blood Mage yet, that might be interesting. I'd be able to wear warrior armor too I think, sort of like an Arcane Warrior without a sword. ;)

I'm starting to get a little bored with this though, since I've played through it once with an Archer and 2/3rds of the way with a mage, but might give 2handed warrior a whirl. Looks ability-heavy like the mage, since your regular attack is pretty laughable, even though it can hit multiples. Or maybe I'm not seeing the potential (more likely).

Oh, was anyone disappointed with the enemy mages in this game? They were so infrequent, and then most of the time they just turned into boring abominations. Granted, they could tear shit up if you left them alone, but they generally don't last long enough to be any real threat. Kind of like archers as well.

Hmm, I'm thinking of giving this game a shot, as it seems pretty awesome from what I've heard (even though it doesn't seem to live up to expectations). My question would be: should I play the first DA before playing this one. I've played through the beginning of the first one several times, but never managed to get to far along (I didn't own the game itself). Can I enjoy the second one to the fullest without getting the first?

Until now, (I'm past the first act / year in the city) I would say you can, although at some points, it will be a bit more fun if you played it through the first one. Because DA2 is in another country, about an other main character, it might be okay. On the other hand: I'm not sure if later in the game or in a eventual third part, you will be missing too much.

I'd say you can definitely enjoy it without playing the first. You might be a little confused about the first game's impact on the story (arguably not much), and miss out on all the references to events in the first game, but other than that, it's pretty much its own story. I think it's definitely better to have played the first, though.

Finished this one over the weekend. I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as Origins. It felt more like a companion/sister game than a full blown sequel to DAO. Dragon Age: The Champion or something along that line would have been a better title than Dragon Age 2.
