pretty bitty, ref was VERY lenient the majourity of the match.
The red card was harsh, brunt should have had a yellow for literally grabbing someones foot and pulling them to the ground, penalty shout, meh, if that was a pen then it was a pen at the other end for skyrtel molesting oulsen.


ETA - mom, oulsen by a mile, for the most read who ever he was facing masterfully, cut out several key balls and was on the whole an example of how a center back needs to play.

I genuinely hope Liverpool do fairly well this year, and by that I mean better than Spurs, so they finish one place lower. Every place lower spuds finish makes me immeasurably happier. I don't think much can be read into results against Wigan. I mean obviously Spurs will be disappointed regarding the points lost, but in terms of what it means about the team or the season I don't think you can read any more into losing to Wigan than you can into beating them 9-1. I mean, last season they conceded at least four goals on eight occasions (including, it should be noted, to Blackpool, in the League Cup), but they also beat Chelsea, Liverpool, Villa, and Arsenal and took points off City.

Point is, Tottenham seems to have contracted the horrible premiership-after-midweek-champions-league-fixture-disease. If this continues they sure as hell wont be playing in the CL next season, which is imperative if they really want to contend with the other clubs around them with - City, Liverpool and Arsenal - who all have better financial potential than Spurs. City's money is self evident. Liverpool, if and when they finally rid themselves of those Yanks, will have a global fan base only rivalled by ManU, Barca, Real, and AC Milan. And Arsenal probably have the healthiest financial set up in the premiership, in addition to featuring in the Champions League almost every year. Playing in the CL this year will be a boost for Tottenham, but if they loose out on next seasons competition they'll be back to square one.

What is it, 13 consecutive seasons Arsenal have been playing in the CL now? If spurs go further than us I will be amazed and horrified. Struggled enough away to Young Boys, even if they make it through the group stage I can't see an away tie against Bayern or whoever going successfully.

Who's the winner of this summers transfer window? City seems obvious, especially with Yaya Toure. For me, a player like him was the missing piece last season. In addition to that I'm a big fan of David Silva, and Balotelli is suppose to be blinding. So I suspect (fear) that they may actually nip at the heels of Chelsea and United this season. For my own part, I'm really satisfied with Cole and Meireles. Both of them are better than the players we've had in that position, so I expect the team to preform a lot better than last season. Also, I don't think we'll miss Mascherano that much in most games. Against teams such as ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, and now ManCity, he will be missed. But other than those teams, there really isn't that much use for him. He doesn't contribute at all forward, and against the not-so-good teams we really need a player who can direct our play more than we need a player to break up the oppositions play.
