Is Mereilles getting paid to stay away from any opposing players AND the ball?

He was screaming in disbelief at the edge of the box at that first goal, and when Yakubu took that misplaced pass from Lucas, he was literally walking back to his own box, bypassed on all sides by running Everton players.
For a defensive mid, that is unbelievable.

Denilson's a good player and gets way too much stick.

We don't deserve to win this season. Wayne Rooney is playing like a retard and The others aren't much better. Everton winning cheered me up a bit but nothing is going right for Man U despite being up at the top. This must be what it feels like to be an Arsenal fan...

Nani, Berbatov, Nani, Scholes, Nani and Nani have been great, don't blame the attack for the defence.

Either that's sarcasm, or you are quite literally the only person I have ever evr heard say that. I've certainly never heard any Arsenal fan express any kind of affection for him except for a brief 5 minute spell after he's scored.

Not sarcasm, and I'm certainly not the only person I've heard saying it. I know quite a few Arsenal fans (on and off the internet, living where I do) and opinion on him's pretty split, but I know a lot who really appreciate what he does in terms of defensive work (the season before last iirc he made more interceptions than any other player in the league) and simple passing keeping the tempo ticking. He never does anything spectacular but he's worked on showing a bit more creativity in the last year too.

Comparing him to Lucas is just insulting. He's no world-beater but he's a good player.

na na na na na na na na na na NA NA

great performance from pretty much everyone the first half, that the way I want them to play from now on, every game.
was it kuyts return? who knows, gerrard and nando starting to tick once again undoubtedly helped.
second half, pepe reina to the rescue and maxi should have pinged it in injury time for 3.

happy happy man today

when torres got the first goal you could just see it was such an instant boost for him n his performance stepped up another level...

i dunno with him, world cup hangover/lack of confidence or just a case of been "up" for it against the bigger teams...

I never thought I'd catch myself saying this, but... I've been quite impressed by Joey Barton this season. He's playing well, and, more importantly took a right kicking from Wolves last time out and didn't even moan once to the ref. A changed man?

2Peter 2:22
"They prove the truth of this proverb: "A dog returns to its vomit." And another says, "A washed pig returns to the mud."

Not saying he wasn't impressively resilient from Karl Henry's batterings, just there's only so long the little scrote can keep it up.
He'll sodomise some opposition player with the corner flag before the years out, mark my words.

Just thought I'd bump this post. That Punch on Gamst was truly despicable. He's not a nice bloke, that Barton.

I was in the pub last night listening to a couple of blokes comparing Joey Barton to Beckham... just no comment... you can't polish a turd!

Couldn't sleep so random thoughts so far...

The Premier League big guns are poorer this year rather than the other teams stepping up their game ...It's a funny ole season so far...

The only team to offer anywhere near to consistancy at the moment is Chelsea and yet to be potentially only 6 points clear at this stage (depending on todays result) is unbelievable...

Man Utd are the draw masters at the moment but to be fair are undefeated... Lacking a Van Der Vaart who can create that spark...

Arsenal doing their normal random show, amazing one week, poor the next... Will things ever change?

Man City will not win the league under Mancini, I've never rated him, he was successful at Inter when their closest rivals were a average Roma side... Just too negative...

I reckon Tottenham are finding it hard to balance the Champions League and Premier League together though they are around where I expect them to be...

And Liverpool... Well they are just woeful at the moment... Benitez knew what he was doing jumping ship when he did, knew what was coming!

Who will win? Cannot see past Chelsea at the moment... unfortunately!

With a mention to Bolton too, props to Owen Coyle, they're having a good season so far!

HAWAY THE MACKAMS!!! Loving Sunderland at the moment, they are the team producing the most interesting results this season. Getting thrashed 5-1 by the Geordies and then beating Chavski 3-0. Brilliant stuff! Would be hilarious to see them in the CL next year...

EDIT: Random side note but not really anywhere else to put this: Jay Bothroyd to play for England. Thoughts?

On current form Bothroyd is one of the best strikers in the country. His all around game is good, he's big, holds the ball up well, is good in the air and can finish with either foot from 6 yards or 20. He plays with Chopra for City so is the ideal foil for a second smaller nippy striker to play off. He plays a similar game to Crouch only without being a useless stack of shit with a touch like a rapist.

Drawbacks are he is injury prone and occasionally has Anelka-like tantrums, though to be fair he has matured over the last couple of seasons. I doubt he'll start but he should make the bench and at least get 10-15 mins at the end.
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Yeah it would be interesting to see how well he plays with the rest of the England team. If he can score it will remove all doubt.

Prediction: Bothroyd will get 10 minutes as a substitute and never be seen again. See: Kevin Davies.

I dunno, but things are definitely changing - first time we've won at arsenal in god knows how long. Lucky we did, too, or bolton might be pulling away from us a bit much... Never thought I'd be saying that!
