In a quick answer to your questions. I somehow thought his shapechanging form was a snake of somesort. Can't really remember where I get that idea from though. Did someone call him the desertsnake once? Posted Image It was Shadowthrone that exclaimed:-

'It is you! Delat! You shape-shifting bastard!'

But also a damned nice thread On Quick Ben is found here:-

Mr. Ben Adaephon Delat

Though it is in the Memories of Ice forum and will most likely contain spoilers for the other books. Posted Image

the Tennes witch he met about Burn's disease says something along the lines of this:
"you move like the snake you are in truth"(not exactly what it said but I hope I caught the geist) when referring to the questions he's asking her

does anyone think quick ben will veer in to his shapeshifting form by the end of the series and what would that form be, thats assuming his is a shapeshifter, but i think it was cotillion called him a shape shifting bastard, and i think it has been mentioned before so it all points to it but, he hasnt mentioned it himself as being one, and if his is so powerfull and is indeed a shape shifter why isnt he a d'ivers because i thought d'ivers were just more powerfull shapeshifters?
anyway just my thoughts

I think Cotillion/Ammanas was refering to how sly Quick Ben is and how he popped up in different disguises and the witch was talking of how he grew up in Raraku. I may be wrong but thats the impression I got.

D'ivers beeing more powerful is not exactly true, take Rake as an example. He's "just" soletaken, and I wager he'd kick the ass of many D'ivers.

Thats true, but I think D'ivers have more potential because they can grow in number.

The interlude with the Tennes witch is ripe with hints to his soletaken form. Could be metaphorical, but I think not.

I never caught on to the snake-ben thing till now. makes sense I guess. If he is a snake are we thinking garden variety? is this a question anyone can answer, no. but I welcome some speculation.

Responding strictly in the general spoiler-free'ish context, a d'ivers isn't necessarily more powerful than a soletaken.

I don't think there were any d'ivers in GotM, but just looking at that book, it's pretty clear between Rake, the Andii dragons, Silverfox, the odd Bonecaster or two and so on that not even all soletaken are created equal.

- Abyss, a big fan of d'iversity.
