Not quite sure what this is leading to. A new film? A new game? But it is pretty fucking good.

This looks incredible. They've taken the cheesy schlock and managed to give it some real edge in that short film alone. The fight choreography was EXCEPTIONAL. I thought Johnny Cage might even swing for an omaplota (when he grabbed Baraka's arm as he landed on the couch) and the suplex to end it was fantastic.
Great casting and a very nice sense of subtlety was displayed in the trailer.

Imagine if they made Mortal Combat into a TV-series like Heroes. Only instead of crazy over complicated storylines jumping back and forth, it would just be 45 minutes of people punching each other until their heads explode.

Is this how hollywood actually works? Do directors often do shorts like this to sell movies to studios?
