Not just Directors, I think this kind of stuff is ordinarily ordered from the top itself. It's basically just a concept piece to give execs an idea of what the creators/idea men are shooting for. It's like a pilot for a TV series. It gives you a feel of where it is going and allows for changes early on before everything has been set in stone and things like props and locations have already been ordered and booked.

Looks sweet. Some minor bitches. OK, so Baraka is a psycho plastic surgeon, I can groove with that. However, where the hell did he learn to fight like that? Just because you like to kill people doesn't automatically give you kung-fu. That being said though, the fight was sweet. I actually like the toned down supernatural aspect of it.

I would totally go see this though.

Baraka's style was primarily a mix of capoeira and some kung fu. The suplex at the end was awesome, and the director mentioned in an interview elsewhere that they actually did some MMA-style groundwork, but cut it to make it zippier.

The only question is, can they follow up on the amazing theme music done for the first movie?

So, as reported today, this short film has now been turned into a 10 episode web-series...if it does well I can only assume it will go to film too...It excites me if only because this was EXACTLY what this series needed to look like. Dark, nasty and gritty. Anyways, head over and read at Bleeding Cool.

The first episode is now out.

YouTube link.

Really good, in my opinion. Fight choreography remains excellent and the atmosphere feels right on.

Recently caught up on the episodes.

The Raiden episode is particularly nice - very nifty re-imagining of his storyline and continues the "realistic, but possibly supernatural" angle.

The fight choreography remains the best I have ever seen in any film or show. Every episode is inventive, maintains a good balance between entertainment and real fighting and it all looks gooooood.

The Sub-zero and Scorpion episodes were great.

Season 2 should be very nice.

I had totally forgotten about this.

Thanks for the links Amp, just watched up to the Johnny Cage episode - and you're right, the choreography is phenomenal - comfortably a match with some of the best i've ever seen (and I've seen a hell of a lot ;) )
meh. Link was dead :(
