Neither. The gloriousness that is Australian football will be on all afternoon. Three matches, two of them rippers. My home team is playing at home, so probably should go, but this is fun.
It's disappointing to me that very few people on here actually know about it/like it. TT used to watch it a while back, but it's hard to find streams on the internet apparently..
What are your thoughts on you now having a super
We do? Don't really follow rugby, sorry.
Melbourne has a team from next year I think, maybe the year after. Really great sport to watch, specially since we seem to be churning out the incredible players at a rate of knots at the moment.
Yeah, that makes sense, we already have the Storm, I'm guessing it will be a Union team? Never really got into it to be honest, but at its best it is an exciting sport. More exciting than handegg most of the time too.
Yeah Union, most Saffers aren't aware that League even exists. The new team is the Melbourne Rebels in case your civic pride gets called into question at some point. Poor rugby can be really boring, I've experienced that once or twice. I think it's miles ahead of soccer or cricket though, which are really your only other options in these part. And there has been some fantastic rugby in the last two years or so, so I'm not complaining

Most Victorians aren't even aware Rugby has two codes. Ask it in New South Wales or Queensland though and you'll probably get torn limb from limb.

As for the similarity, I'm not sure. I don't watch that much rugby, but from what I do see it plays like a faster version of NFL with tries and the set plays and not throwing forward etc. Certainly the speed is closer to AFL, but I'm not familiar with the other two codes to make much of a judgment.
Once you get past the large men absolutely breaking each other aspect of the game, it's actually an incredibly tactical game, with a lot of very subtle rules. I suppose that makes it a little bit difficult to get into, but there's nothing like seeing an in form scrumhalf making the right call between the pod of forwards on his outside, the flyhalf in the pocket and the wing trying to break the line on his inside. All of which is decided on the fly in the space of a couple of seconds.
