Quote

it is, without a doubt, one of the most popular shots ordered in bars around the world.

Chasing whiskey with pickle brine really is nothing new[...] Yet, it wasn't until 2006 that [...] gave the shot its now-famous name at the Bushwick Country Club. After that, it didn't take long for the drink to become a hit and spread across the U.S. and beyond.

[...] Even if you're not a fan of pickles, it's a drink you'll want to try because it delivers a rich, umami flavor that you will not find in any other drink [lol yeah right]. [...] You can experience the pickleback at home, even with that jar of Vlasic pickles hanging out in your fridge. [The more aged the better---mold has fiber (even if it isn't hallucinogenic...)]

I one had to play Kings with a bunch of people, and ended up chugging a cup full of rum, vodka, whiskey and pickle juice. Possibly beer, too.

I think the juice was the only thing that kept me from being violently ill.

In Philadelphia we traditionally chase whiskey (or any shots really) with cheap beer. 'Citywide Special'. Might as well mix them all together with some pickle juice and chug (efficiency!...). Actually before I got into self-hypnosis my alcohol tolerance had gotten so ridiculous I needed to chug at least five shots worth in a row (in water, granted) just to feel any effects (or stand the sight of human beings...).

My tolerance has gone down drastically since I finished school

Nowadays, a couple pints with supper and I'm considering a nap.

Unless I go away for a drinking weekend. Then the binging switch gets flipped

It's supposed to rain here all day tomorrow.

No beach, so I guess I'm gonna be binging on beer and watching X-men on Disney+, I guess.

Over the last 10 years or so when I've gone out drinking I've been meticulous about avoiding the technical definition of binging (5 in 2 hours for males) but I don't think they really intended that to mean 'you can have more at the two hour mark and all will be well (so set your timer!)'. Haven't done it since Omicron started though. Cut down to less than 1 every other day.

lol, that reminds me. A bunch of years back, I was applying for disability insurance. So I had to do a phone interview. The girl who was asking me questions somunded Middle Eastern. When we got to the question about how much I drink, I started to explain that it's hard to say- a few times of year (during Lent) I'm sober for over a month at a time- but then in the summer when we go for long weekends, me and my friends typically drink a bottle's worth of liquor each, on average (plus a 24 of beer for each of the guys).

So then she asked to estimate, how many drinks do I have in a week, on average. SO I said something like "12-15", trying to lowball it.

There was a VERY long pause on the other end of the line.

But, nevertheless, I got the insurance, and there were no mentions of alcoholism on the condition letter, so I guess I'm good.

Contrary to yesterday's forecast, there was barely any rain. aAt around 6:30 there was a VERY dark cloud looming over us, so literally everyone packed up their stuff and started clearing out. I checked the forecast, it was still saying 30% precipitation. So when a few lazy drops started to fall, I packed all my stuff in my backpack and went for another lap in the lake (when it's cloudy, you're already wet and it's starting to rain, it's actually warmer to be in the water- I learned that during my lifeguarding tenure). By the time I finished (500 m give or take, half way going up against waves- so roughly 20ish min), the sky was clear with bright sun, and the beach was virtually empty. I had it basically all to myself for the next hour and a bit, until some evening people showed up closer to sunset.

I used to have half a handle of Ciroc a day (one handle = 1.75 L), 2 Long Islands at lunch, and another 2 to 3 at dinner (Long Island Ice Tea = Efficiency!).

Then I'd go out drinking....

Every bottle of Ciroc is different. They're really beautiful. I used to keep them---I thought of them as like a prisoner's tally of the days on the walls of their cell.

A few months after I stopped drinking excessively the liquor store I'd been going to closed for good. Now (since Philadelphia is still Pennsylvania) I'd have to walk a mile to the nearest liquor store (but I get delivery instead...).

The wave took my sunglasses today, :(

After buying beer and new sunglasses, I had no more cash to go grab a few grocery things I was planning to pick up.

That was an annoying setback

But are you in one piece? The sunnies may have been the price of that.

EDIT: well, there goes that theory ...

lol 'conservative news sites' are ranting about 'Biden's Beer Ban' (blaring headlines in the usual suspects) because the USDA (under Biden's tyrannous reign of science!) might change their alcohol recommendation to match Canada's (no more than 2 drinks a week... must mean two borgs I guess?).

Guess you have to be a skilled Mentalist to circumvent Canada's draconian beer ban... probably lost the sunglasses hiding from the Mounties underwater. So the moose couldn't follow the scent (you may be able to hypnotize the rider, but it's hard to hypnotize a highly trained police moose when they're out for Justice)....

Rebrand it Biden’s Bud Light Ban and they won’t know what to do.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Who actually reads those recommendations, lets be honest.

I have an entire visa that's basically for liquor store purchases, so if there was any limit on alcohol purchases, I'd have known about it.

The only quota I've ever heard of was for dial-the-bottle in 1st year. We had one 19 y.o. On our floor who used to order for most people (roughly 45 first years). After our 1st semester midterms they had to bring him 3 boxes of booze to our rez. After that dial-the-bottle instuted a 100 bucks per person cap

Edit: goddammit, sliced my thumb while making supper.

Guess it'll be a sober evening
