I've just finished Portal 2 about 5 minutes ago. It was awesome, if a tad short (roughly 6 hours)! GLaDOS is back, we've got a new guy who's just as infuriating as you'd expect from a Moron Also, throughout the whole game I kept thinking he's voiced by Allistairs from Dragon Age (he's not, though there are parallels in personality )
Now to find someone to play co-op with.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

'bellurdan' on Steam. And perhaps next week, gotta finish ME2 Insanity playthrough now, and then there's easter when I'll be mostly offline for several days.
btw, did your machine also had serious trouble when lots of fluids came into play? I guess it's hard on hardware

Was the only time it slowed down slightly, yeah. Then again this machine has three more cores than the piece of crap I played the original on, and feels like it has four more.

Portal 2 question: what is the best platform to play this game on? (PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3)? ... or does it even matter?

The answer is always, no matter what game it is (practically), PC. Always.
But I guess you'd have to be fair and say "whichever option will let you play the co-op with someone", because the co-op is a whole game unto itself, apparently.

Oh man, the number of reviews for Portal 2 on metacritic that give it 0-3, by accounts that have either only voted Portal 2 down or Portal 2 and Dragon Age 2 are ridiculous. These people are children. Literal children.

Ok thanks Silencer. Of the consoles (Xbox 360 and Playstation 3) which is the best option? Asking because I've seen discussions on other boards that Playstation 3 is the best. Supposedly there is vid of Portal 2 creators stating that Playstation 3 is the "optimal console platform"... although that might be more marketing / "stratch my back and I will scratch your back" relationship with Sony then actual fact. Based on what I have seen of the game, it does not seem to hang its hat on pushing graphics to the technological edge and so there will not be a noticeable difference between Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

I'm personally an Xbox person, when it comes to consoles, but I guess in a game like this (as you say, it's not exactly a tech demo), it comes down to, again, friends, controller/control scheme, price, etc.
Which, obviously, for me is Xbox. But if you prefer the PS3 controller, and it's semi-officially the better console to run the game on, and you don't mind the price difference (I'm assuming there is one...there always is for other games, here), then go for that.

Ok... thanks! I am leaning towards Playstation 3. The game's sophistication seems to appeal more towards the Playstation 3 demographic (as it relates to online play - - - PSN), as opposed to the 12 yr. old "COD army" that seems to dominate Xbox Live.

Fair enough, but tbh I never really get the 12yo retard influx everyone else seems to weather. I mean, sure, I often mute everyone except my friends in Halo and whatnot (and hardly anyone talks in MoH in general...haven't played Crysis 2 enough online to get a feel for it yet), but when I forget or just don't use my mic, I don't get that many 'i hate you n00b h4x0r' girlish screams or anything. A bit too much teabagging for my like in Halo, though...but meh.
I think it has to do with my time zone. I mean, how many 12 year old kids are up at 1am? XD

I wonder why they delayed both Last Guardian and the Ico collection. Did they have to canabalise the Team Ico team to get the Last Guardian done perhaps?

Been playing the Knights of the Chalice demo over the last day or two. Took me a while to brave the game due to the weird perspective, but I didn't even notice it in-game, actually found the graphics pretty beautiful. The combat is absolutely excellent, any doubts I had about paying out £15 for an indie game have completely gone. Best RPG combat in my memory.
