I haven't played many games on the Switch but you can't go wrong with Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild and Cadence of Hyrule.

Pokemon are fun little RPGs about capturing animals and forcing them to fight to the death for your amusement. Animal Crossing is... this week? Next Week? Soon anyway. I've heard good things about Octopath Traveller if you like RPGs.
Edit - never thought I'd like farming games, but Stardew Valley is a farmming/rpg hybrid, and Farm Together has taken up more of my time than I'd publicly admit.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne: It's like hunting monsters, but on crack, but the monsters are also on crack.

A pro controller is a good investment from the start.
Zelda, Mariokart, Smash Brothers, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Party are all good multi player fun. Although once you get into BotW you'll have plenty to do for a while.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Okay, with Microsoft unloading the specs for their next gen console (and they looking seckxxx-ay af!) and PS5 probably going to be revealed soon, I would like to have a heart to heart about form factor. While I liked the slim design of the PlayStation 4, the power button was annoying af. So many times I engaged it to turn on when I was only trying to swap out a cord. And that leads to access to ports. Damn they were often difficult for me to access with them tucked behind the beveled, slanted design. So I just hope that with the next gen (didn't have an Xbone, so can't make comment on it) that there will be more attention to some of these small details in how natural and easy to use the console should be.

I never interact with my console so I have no opinion on the shape of the box.

Eh. Unless they reveal a game to demonstrate how many billions of polygons the PS5 can handle I'm not excited. I think Microsoft's strategy of just making a blog post and letting digital foundry explain it all is more sensible.
More exciting is the Nintendo Indie direct going live in about 3 hours.

I'll admit that Mark Cerny himself is fascinating to listen to. He's like the Mr Rodgers of console hardware.
In other news Persona 5 Royal, Animal Crossing and DOOM are all getting 90 or above scores on Open Critic. Exciting times. I'll start with Doom and then I might check out Animal Crossing. Never played those games before.

2 important questions are how many teraflops, and what degree of backwards compatibility the PS5 has. Because right now, those are Microsoft's biggest talking points.
I don't expect any game reveals. It's pretty clear that Sony wants to get its PS4 titles out of the way first before building next-gen hype. And we still have FF7R, TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima as the exclusive heavy hitters to come.

Ganet Stack Live is live right now. Today and tomorrow, Microsoft is streaming the presentations and panels that were planned for GDC.
https://developer.mi...k-live-schedule
The schedule looks interesting but I think I'll fall asleep if watch all this.

Needed something to play while on quarantine (taking a break from STARDEW and sick of the other games I own), so I ordered the Definitive Edition of DIVINITY 2: ORIGINAL SIN. So that should be fun to dive into. Not played a game like that since the BALDUR'S GATE days. Cant' wait.

That's their GDC talks, I believe. They're gonna stream those since they can't do live presentations b/c GDC was "postponed"
<snip>
Shit, with all the pandemic news a pop-a-loppin' all over the place, I forgot about this. It starts today, and even might be going on now?

Sony's GDC "deep dive into PS5 architecture" is 52 min long.
I'm debating watching it live vs waiting for a Digital Foundry breakdown.

Listening to Cerny's talk right now. The segment on the SSD alone is making me want put down 5.000 DKK.

Mark Cerny sounds like Marquess of Queensberry from Mike Tyson Mysteries.

The SSD sounds like it is going to unshackle developers to allow them more freedom with level designs. That could be amazing. Also, it seems like the SSD is going to improve the issue PS4 has been criticized with, and that is sloooooow ass downloads of patches/updates/DLC-expansions, etc.

Meh, I recently bought a 2TB SATA SSD...I don't really expect the load times to be a game-changer, tbh.
Sony's deffo coming in under-powered (esp since the CPU and GPU speeds are variable, so these are max specs, not fixed like the XSX), but price is gonna be the decisive factor.
Still, it's a huge jump from last gen for both sides, and it brings them up to some top-end PC hardware (for now) at far cheaper price, so there's deffo a ton of value there.
EDIT: oof, PS4 games playing nice with PS5 is gonna be "case-by-case" basis.
That's.... a bad thing to say.
