My brother found some old pictures of us paddling around on the Balakliika River, near Balakliia, Ukraine, around 2010. Very nostalgic. Good times.

Very cold! My kids thought it was hilarious when I did a very high pitched scream upon entering the water. It's a tradition here though and there are a number of dips around the island so I think I'll do it again next year.

I mean to be fair, the sea in winter where you are is likely as cold as stuff near me would be for similar dips. Up in like Thunder Bay it would be worse of course...but the dips they do in Lake Ontario are probably of a similar temperature.

I was just reading about Cold Urticaria, which is a literal allergy to cold temperatures. Like any allergy it varies in severity, and that's up to and including death and the need to carry an epipen.

They came with white hands and left with red hands.
