She lit one cigarette with the stump of another, and had been doing that since breakfast. The local muscle had been bent carefully to her needs, and was now hers to command. It is good to have friends in high places... and dangerous. A nod sent one of them on his way. Expendable cannon fodder, and while the one he was to chase was not much to look at, neither was she, and look at how that played out. She blew three smoke circles. Fuck, another pack emptied.

I haven't seen this mentioned (may be wrong and rehashing though), but to me this sounds like the woman that was hiding among the criminal elements mentioned in the first set of scenes. The fact she's sending out thugs is also very interesting, could have something to do with the extra alt...the fact that she has 'friends in high places' could indicate that she's Japanese. Might be reading too much into that though.

Quote

She met the informant just outside the metro station. The exchange was made rapidly, a small brown paper bag filled with greens of the kind that could be healthy or unhealthy, and would bring him back thirsty for more, with an eager smile and a nod that could be constructed as a bow, trying to impress her with the knowledge he had gathered of a hard faced woman who did not want to be found. Slimy creature, she thought, wrinking her nose with disdain. She felt the urge for another whiff of Chanel no. 5 to surround herself with something infinitely more pleasant.

This scene also point to the fact that we have a poisoner in the game. The bit about coming back for more...sort of a seduction thing where they have to tell you something (like the interrogation in the last game)? Sounds like the guy she targeted (is going to target) has investigative powers, too.

From last game:

Quote

Claire Moncoutié – Poisoner (French) -- Spy

Chloroform: day only. You can abduct another player – the player cannot post until nightfall, or until you have asked him 3 questions (going through the relevant mods: Path-Shaper), which he has to answer. The questions will future in the mod scenes, in so far as possible. The player who has to answer may lie.

Quote

"Hello there," the heavy voice with its impeccable accent said.
"Hello," the other replied, her face unfriendly and untrusting, pulling up her cheap black scarf until it reached her chin.
"I have something you can use, I think."
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Tomorrows news, love, tomorrows news."

Sounds like a day ability was gifted.

With that done, going to re-read some people, and write some more of my essay.

Actually, "Tomorrows news" sounds like information, rather than an ability. Like, "I can tell you the future" would be useful, wouldn't it? "What's going to happen tomorrow", rather than "some ability you can perform". Just imo.

I think it comes across as "I have something useful for you, but you only get to use it/find out what it is tomorrow".

The young lady in the elegant brown suit, turquoise blouse underneath, stepped up to the stage. Her pretty little mouth puckered up for a moment, then she began to speak. "Dear members of the press, we have conducted our own investigation into the cowardly attack against Tokyo Tower. According to our research, it were European intelligence agents who eliminated the terrorists, or at the least, most of them."

If the game was to be called at this moment, the two-point scores would be as followed:
Americans: 0 points
Europeans 4 points
Chinese: 0 points
Japanese: 0 points
Russians: 0 points

~~

He visualized the other as a chess player. Would he be rash? Would he bluff? Would he dare a gambit, an exchange of queens? Would he choose white, or black? The game of intelligence was nothing like chess, but the manhunts it involved, was. He excelled at chess, and at this, the art of analysis and prediction.
Only someone with this much power could make this many frittatas without breaking any eggs.

Hmm well looking at the points, that would mean that 2 Europeans created lover connections with new people, which isn't a surprise on Night 1.

So this scene here is one.

Quote

She sat down, crossed her elegant legs, and smiled at him, amusement apparent at his surprise.
“So,” he asked, “to what do I owe a visit from such an exquisite young lady?”
“Maybe,” she said, “it is the Saville Row jacket you’re wearing. Huntsman?”
“No, sadly not. Had to buy this one of the rack before leaving for Afghanistan.”
“It’s rather sad to see one of my heroes fails to live up to his reputation,” she said, leaning towards him, perfect smile taking the sting out of the words.
“One of your heroes?”
“You are a bit of a national celebrity, aren’t you?”
“Oh, it’s not that, I was merely wondering who the others would be.”

Not sure about the other though?

Ok so from that we know that the europeans have made at least 2 lover connections (could have been more) and the Japanese havent been hit with any harmful abilities yet.
Anything else we can read from that?

The Chess player one does seem like it could be the guy who's stalking someone again.

The EU: eliminate the scum, collect the most points.
15 points: One spy of your team must survive the game.
10 points: Having used more Investigations than any other spy team (Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Russians).
7 points: Having initiated more lover relationships (between 2 players) than all other spy teams (Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Russians) combined.
5 points: Having been targeted with more kill actions than any of the other spy teams (Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Russians).
3 points: All European spies must be able to talk to all other EU spies at the end of the game.
2 points: Every time a lover relationship is established with a player of a team (Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Russians, Syndicate) which whom no European Spy has previously made contact with, you gain 2 points, with a maximum of 10.

Looks like the europeans made two connections with teams not their own. If revealing the current score wasnt a players ability but something the mods plan to do during the course of the game it could give us a lot of info. Likewise if you found yourself approached by a player who claimed they were another member of your faction you know they are lying, but you can be certain they are a spy.

Anything that happens in these little stories is player activity.

Hmm impeccable accent I guess means British so it could be, but it doesn't really stand out as Lover connection, certainly not like the first anyway.

Ture, but out of all the scenes it is the next best candidate to the one you quoted.

Based on PS's comment it would seem likely that the score update is a player ability. Probably one with multiple uses, would be a bit of a waste to have used it this early in the game otherwise.

I would have to disagree, there were less actions taken at this point so it really helps narrow down what happened and what factions were involved.

"I didn't know they employed western bouncers here," he said, looking at the man standing opposite the wardrobe, where a girl in a miniskirt with a tiny apron, high heels and not much else was busy hanging four-figure-cost coats away. He removed his sun glasses from his hair, then put them in again, at the same time curling a little lock just above his ear.
"Neither did I," the other guy said, "I just came here to read a book."
"What's it about?"
"Science. History, to be more precise."
"Fascinating," the other murmured, his eyes resting on the tiny apron.

This one could possibly be a lover connection as well, though im not sure

Based on the conditions we can assume

Quote

American
2 points:2 points for every spy team (Chinese, EU, Japanese, Russians, Syndicate) of which every member has been targeted by at least 1 Investigation action from an American Spy. Maximum of 10 points.

That if an american did an investigation it was on one of their own members

Quote

Chinese
2 points: Every time a player is lynched who is not Chinese and is of a faction previously not lynched (Americans, EU, Japanese, Russians, Syndicate), you gain 2 points, with a maximum of 10.

Nothing about chinese

Quote

EU
2 points: Every time a lover relationship is established with a player of a team (Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Russians, Syndicate) which whom no European Spy has previously made contact with, you gain 2 points, with a maximum of 10.

2 relationships with different factions were formed with euro team

Quote

Japan
2 points: 2 points for every time a Japanese player is targeted with a harmful ability, with a maximum of 10 points.

No harmful actions were taken against them

Quote

Russian
2 points: 2 points for every time a player is unable to take an action during 2 consecutive phases as a result of the abilities of one or more Russian players, with a maximum of 10 points. No single player can contribute more than 2 points to this victory condition.

Nothing since day two isn't over

edit- added Chinese condition

We cant really say much about the Americans as their condition requires them to have investigated every member of a team. All we know is that they havent done that, but it wasnt particularly likely yet anyway.
