It could be said that the Syndicate has no killing powers yet, and is waiting to acheive the proper level up to do so. Thus, lynching being one of the ways to level up could "help" scum that way. I don't think that's what he was saying though.

Perhaps. I personally think that's what he was saying. Those pushing the lynch in his mind are either likely to be Chinese or scum because they have the most to gain, if your scenario is true. It also provides as much information to them as it does us.

My interpretation was he figured scum probably knew more of their own players than the other factions. It is a fairly simple statement, as opposed to my interpretation.

Hmm, well since there is nothing really of note to talk about, I'm going to look at some of the scenes and see if I can divine anything.

On my read up of GL though I did notice Mockra rather definitively denied that Ruse was signaling him. Nothing really, just the assuredness that HP was wrong was kind of odd.

I agree with the above that GL gives me a funny feeling but that's probaby just the weird way he talks.

She lit one cigarette with the stump of another, and had been doing that since breakfast. The local muscle had been bent carefully to her needs, and was now hers to command. It is good to have friends in high places... and dangerous. A nod sent one of them on his way. Expendable cannon fodder, and while the one he was to chase was not much to look at, neither was she, and look at how that played out. She blew three smoke circles. Fuck, another pack emptied.

I haven't seen this mentioned (may be wrong and rehashing though), but to me this sounds like the woman that was hiding among the criminal elements mentioned in the first set of scenes. The fact she's sending out thugs is also very interesting, could have something to do with the extra alt...the fact that she has 'friends in high places' could indicate that she's Japanese. Might be reading too much into that though.

Quote

She met the informant just outside the metro station. The exchange was made rapidly, a small brown paper bag filled with greens of the kind that could be healthy or unhealthy, and would bring him back thirsty for more, with an eager smile and a nod that could be constructed as a bow, trying to impress her with the knowledge he had gathered of a hard faced woman who did not want to be found. Slimy creature, she thought, wrinking her nose with disdain. She felt the urge for another whiff of Chanel no. 5 to surround herself with something infinitely more pleasant.

This scene also point to the fact that we have a poisoner in the game. The bit about coming back for more...sort of a seduction thing where they have to tell you something (like the interrogation in the last game)? Sounds like the guy she targeted (is going to target) has investigative powers, too.

From last game:

Quote

Claire Moncoutié – Poisoner (French) -- Spy

Chloroform: day only. You can abduct another player – the player cannot post until nightfall, or until you have asked him 3 questions (going through the relevant mods: Path-Shaper), which he has to answer. The questions will future in the mod scenes, in so far as possible. The player who has to answer may lie.

Quote

"Hello there," the heavy voice with its impeccable accent said.
"Hello," the other replied, her face unfriendly and untrusting, pulling up her cheap black scarf until it reached her chin.
"I have something you can use, I think."
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Tomorrows news, love, tomorrows news."

Sounds like a day ability was gifted.

With that done, going to re-read some people, and write some more of my essay.

Those are all good ideas, Sil... hadn't considered a poisoner at all. And we know the Chinese have to teach each other ablities for a VC. "Impeccable accent" implies maybe it's a fake accent that is well done.

I don't think I'm going to vote before bed, plenty of time left.

Good to see the spam is still up to our high moral and intellectual standards.

Hmm, I didnt think of the teaching thing, it seems a decent explanation to me. The green stuff struck me as being drugs of some sort, but it's difficult to tell what exactly the transaction means in terms of actions.

Obviously analyzing the scenes will be helpful, but we should be careful that it isnt the only thing we end up doing. There's a fair amount of space for people to slide along by doing so, adding game related content without actually have to give any sort of personal opinion.

I think the most telling thing so far, as ther people have mentioed, is that there hasnt been anything about attempted kills yet. As pleasant as it is to have you all around, it is slightly worrying.

Tellan, I agree that people can slide along with speculation about scenes, but there isn't much else to point to at the moment. I would be worried about people doing that after the pack has been thinned a bit and there is more juicy information available.

And speaking of scene speculation, Sil, it doesn't sound like the first woman you bring up is Japanese. Referring to them as "local muscle" suggests to me that she is not "local", but she may have connections with the Japanese (or has infiltrated).

She checked the file in her hand. Read it again. And again, before chucking it in a cupboard chockful with other papers. Organized chaos. "If this is true..." she whispered, "there's work to do." She turned and walked to the door, drawing her unremarkable black blouse down so that it covered the blotchy blue tattoo ending in -ina, and left, mind on the job.

That is the second woman to appear in a scene described in such a way, it seems to me this is the same person as in the first scene who was described as unassuming.

Is this the first indication of syndicate behaviour? It looks like setting up some form of find but then why wpuld they be described as expendable? Judging by certain scenes where players seem to be preparing to repel attacks it could be some form of safeguarded kill attempt. Also the woman in the second scene was said to be meeting with the criminal underworld so it seems likely to be her in my opinion.

We also need to start posting some more if we want to get to Level 2 by tonight. I think the plan we had was to level up fast without too many deaths in order to have a larger pool of higher leveled town, but I do agree with speculation that scum may have some serious fire power down the road.

We're about 300ish posts away. I'll try to get a good dearth in tonight and tomorrow, but I can't do it alone.

I also think we should strongly consider a lynch today.

Announcing a hit? Japanese?

Looking back at who will gain the most from a lynch, I see the Chinese and scum being the groups that stand to gain the most at this point in the game. So my thought process leads me to think that the few players who were really pushing the lynch yesterday may be in these two groups. It's not much, but I'm not getting a lot out of the scenes to work with as far as which group is actual acting in them.

LMAO you're foreigner is showing, Omtose. Do you not know what DEARTH means? It means a BUNCH or a FUCKTON. I'm saying I'll get in a bunch of posts.

Getting voted for English comprehension fail. I think I've reached a new level of facepalm!

It actually means a lack of, or an inadequecy.

That was an impressive run of spam, in five pages there was little or no content beyond Silanah's analysis of the scenes. It is strange that no one mentioned those last scenes though, did everyone just miss them?

@Silanah - Can you quote the post where Ruse supposedly signalled Mockra, please?

Actually, "Tomorrows news" sounds like information, rather than an ability. Like, "I can tell you the future" would be useful, wouldn't it? "What's going to happen tomorrow", rather than "some ability you can perform". Just imo.

From the way its written about cannon fodder and employing local muscle it could very much be syndicate.

Looking through the rest of the scenes I think everyone has more or less covered everything. Although the one with the greens in the brown paper bag, I'd be tempted to go something more like a stash of US dollars for payment.
