Oh...You meant Fantasy Literature Characters? Well then...

Mat- Because he likes to have fun, but when you see him on a battlefield he just transcends badass.

Jaime Lannister- Because he's got a quick wit, and anyone that I hated for 3 books and then turned into my most looked forward to chapter deserves a spot on this list.

Logen Ninefingers- Because he's 2 characters in one!

Cotillion- Honestly I think I could just base this off tCG excerpt and be justified.

Whiskeyjack- Because he allowed me to come up with my superawesome name. And he can turn any eons old Ascendant into a best friend, booty call, or personal bodyguards within 5 minutes as the situation demands.


Awesome but not quite enough screen time to qualify: Gothos, Mok, Seg 2nd, Osserc and Draconus.

Not including any Malazan characters here, so I really can't come up with five:

Kvothe - a bit of a Mary Sue, but still awesome.

Mat Cauthon - has gotten somewhat fan-service-ish in later books, but he's the only character from WoT that I actually like, and has all the best moments.

Gerald Tarrant - The Anomander Rake of Erna. Grade-A fuckin' awesome.

Agreed in every point up to excluding Angouleme [that's the original spelling? I only know her as Angulema in Russian]. I'm also very fond of the [dude who rides a mule] who travels with Geralt for some time as well as the black knight who's name I have no clue how to spell..

Its funny that like someone pointed out in this thread that there has been no mention of any female character here. Are all female characters so steriotypical and boreing or is it only cause we (guessing most are male here) identify with only other males? Cant say I myself have read that many diffrent fantasy series either but all the females in them have been kinda boreing to read about compared to the males. To give a clear example, compare the many female characters in WoT to the Male ones...

1. Hedge. Hedge x 1000. I want to make a thread about how awesome Hedge is, but I don't think I have the words to adequately communicate my love for the character.

2. Death, from the Sandman graphic novels. Cheerful and hot. 

3. Death, from the Discworld books. Lovely dry humour. 

4. Mat from WoT, simply for managing to be a WoT character that I don't want to kill.

5. Éowyn from LoTR. I likes women who screw gender convention and go and kick arses in battle. I like the malazan female marines for the same reason, but they weren't faced with the social pressure to stay and home and do woman stuff as Éowyn was.
