Hardcover rarety?

OK, so I just picked up this book after reading a lot about it in A Song of Ice and Fire's (George R.R. Martin) forum and they said that although the book will seem boring at first (specially if you just got out of that series, which is incredible), it gets very, very good at about the third book. So I dived right in head first.
The thing is, I'm very picky when it comes to books. Not the story written in the pages, but in the quality and state of it. I like mostly hardcover books because they are nicer to look upon and to hold and read, but I find that the The Malazan Book of the Fallen are rare to find in this form. The first book, Gardens of the Moon, I only found ONE after looking for over an hour online. No bookstores sell it anymore.
Turns out that the one I did find was used. Since the condition was good, I kept it anyway. It only had one little problem: the book's pages (the part where the pages touch the hardcover) were not glued, as if the reader opened the book over its limit. Nothing a little super glue couldn't fix.
Anyway, the second book of the series I only found at eBay. The seller has 8 in stock (one which I bought) and all the other sellers are charging 150USD and over.
For the third book, Thor itself sells it for 20 something dollars, but I already found that the 4th is nowhere to be seen, unless you care to spend 100 dollars for a book.
Is there any reason for these hardcovers to be so hard to find? Are they still being produced?
I wish I can get the whole collection on hardcover, but by the looks of it, I'll have to change into a softcover collection...

It is harder to find the earlier books in hardcover. However, the first book has recently been released in hardcover as a 10th anniversary edition. I am unsure if there are plans to continue to do this for the rest of the series.

To be honest the Anniversary version is harder to find than the original hardcover.
And if they don't release it for the rest, well then it's not going to match. I sure hope I can find all the books in hard cover.

You can get it on amazon.co.uk. And it is still of a similar design to the others, so it won't stand out too much.
Also, the first book isn't boring, some just find it confusing or confused. And generally the 2nd book is held in pretty much the same regard as the 3rd.

Does the book have a price on the inside of the front flap? The Deadhouse Gates Hardcover you bought.

I got my whole collection on amazon.com. They are all hardcover, though, not all the same styles as some are the British print and others are the American print. Nothing was ridiculously overpriced, the highest I ever paid for a Malazan book was $30 something when I pre-ordered the most recent one. If you're having trouble finding a copy there just check back in another day or two and one usually pops up.

If your copy of Deadhouse Gates does have a price (are you sure it isn't $25.95??), you might have an American 1st edition! Check the copyright page, you are looking for it to say something along the lines of American First Edition: Printed February 2005
and also a numberline that reads like this: 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
It is not the "real" 1st edition (which is a trade paperback from the UK), but it is a 1st Edition of sorts!

I found HoC in hardcover (American first edition too, I guess) at Barnes and Noble for like 4 bucks or something a couple months ago; look there.
