Considering the OP shows us the mechanics of the "Leader", which seems to apply equally to Jason, Freddy and Pinhead, I don't see how the game can be fair if the teams are not balanced in numbers, unless they have extra bits we don't know of or the followers have very different roles.

So I tend to agree on the 5/5/5+1 or 4/4/4 + 4 balance (those last four not necessarily in the same team, as the OP says "if any other factions..."- Not a clue, but at least keeps the possibility open.)

No seriously, you may not lose, but a faction without a leader (early on) is in trouble. Later game it may be more feasible to manage when the factions are all down to like 2 or 3 people.

I'm with Atrahal on the legit math. Seems likely it's 5/5/5/1 in this game. At the risk of getting "OH MY GOD HE'S SPECULATING ABOUT THE LONE FACTION HE MUST BE IT"'d from y'all, since this is 80's horror, there's a huge recurring theme in those kinds of movies: The Sole Surviving Female.

I'd put money on it being some teenage chick that has to survive (until all 3 leaders die, given the add'l info in the setup). No clue what kinda powers she'd have, usually the archetypal woman is attractive, in decent shape, and resilient; but not necessarily some kind of athletic, bad-guy killer. She usually gets lucky so we may be seeing BP type stuff.

If the opposing leaders can hunt us down if we lose ours, what difference does it make if it happens later in the game?

Also, the additional "I'm going to say something more or less useless which has been known to attract attention in the past, but I'll do it anyways and I'll make sure I point it out." sounded, well, useless, until I realized that leaders are quite keen to attract some attention and night actions.

I'd tend to agree, Mockra. It's the 1 or 4 that create mystery. And, I'm at a loss since Morgy said there wouldn't be hidden mechanics and a normal set of roles.

God forbid I actually say it, but in a game of nightmarish players, would a faceless man be completely improbable? Morgy danced around the fact that it would be high TMDI and yet all the roles would be "normal."

The other obvious choice is cult, which is a popular choice for a merc game. That would tend to be a hidden mechanic though, in my eyes. Then again, so would a FM. I'm confused.

3x5+1 seems more likely than 4x4, unless all four mystery faction people had goals that lined up to a reasonable extent. Seven factions would just be crazy. There hasnt been any mention of staying in alt in spoilers, which is generally the first sign that there's an FM, I guess we'll know once we see the first CF. Personally I dont think there is one. Cult maybe, but I think it would be pretty unfair to put a cult in without informing the players, they almost always win unless the players nip them in the bud. Some sortof uber powerful survivor role is more likely.
