Attention all ye citizens of Chicago!

There is a good (but as yet unconfirmed) chance that I will be attending a conference in your fair city from the 29th of September to the 1st of October. Please dont reschedule the official meetup on my account, as I am not sure if I will definitely be going, or the exact details of my flights and accommodation if I do, but if I do manage to wangle my way into a trip to the states I would like to meet as many of you as is possibly possible.

Yeah, I'll just phone the other hundred people and ask them to shift it forward a couple of weeks I'm actually hoping the conference isn't actually too soon - I only found out about it today and organising anything in my company takes ages.

Not me, but I'm kinda hoping for a spot at chez Venge.

Actually I was too, until Mrs. Shin informed me that I wasn't going to Chicago alone, and that the day after the get together we are to go shopping in downtown Chicago. Therefore, I will be finding a hotel at some point - likely the Holiday Inn Express because it's right next to all the shopping and we get airline mileage when we stay there.

She doesn't want to attend the BBQ with a bunch of fantasy nerds though, so I don't know what she intends to do in the meantime other than hide in the hotel. She's not the sort to go out in a big city all by herself (shy japanese and all).

Also I might have a hook up for a certain block of rooms at a hotel. But it would help if there was a more exact number of people who are thinking about staying downtown. The hotel in question would be the Holiday inn express downtown.

As I've mentioned elsewhere on the forum, my uni plans have been altered. instead of attending Windsor/detroit, which just next door to Chicago, i'll be moving to Winnipeg, which is rather far from CHicago. As such, i'll have to skip out on this one.

That's exactly the place I was talking about. It's a decent place, good location, the parking was reasonable and I get miles for staying there (bonus!).

For the record, my wife is hard to convince of anything socially. She's really shy with new people, and has pretty low confidence in her otherwise decent english ability. If Vengy, your wife can pry her out of the hotel room, more power to her!

As of right now I have my wife asking her friend what kind of deal she can get for 3 or 4 rooms at the Holiday Inn Express downtown...

Another side not for people who are thinking about renting a car. Our brilliant (total twat) Mayor Daley has increased the fee's for renting cars at the airports by 8 dollars a day I believe. It is cheaper to book your car downtown. I can understand if this is inconvenient for you as if you aren't going downtown the traffic is horrible. But if you are then save yourself some money and take the train there and then rent a car.
