OK, I now have a big place in Chicago were we can have a right BBQ at. So it is time for ideas about dates and what not.
Morgy is in town till sometime in may and would like to have a meet up before he goes back to the frozen north. Tapper is reportedly thinking about coming out here in the fall, and Shin is suppose to come out but I don't remember when.

So who wants to do what when?

I would be fine (unless my wife tells me no :) ) with having 2 or more this year. I would also encourage those of you who have spouses (...Cough...Bent...Cough..) to bring them this time.

So thoughts and what not...
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

May would probably be hard for me + gf.

Fall would be easier if she can find a job out east...

I would just like to see who is interested in coming this time?

As Venge says, I have plans to come and pay Chicago a visit next fall (late september seems likely).
It depends on the money and the number of weeks I have left to take off, but I'd say that the number of weeks I can take off looks good :).

I might be able to do something in late May - have finals until the 14th or so. My girlfriend will be in Africa from mid-April to July, so I'd be essentially a full time Malazite this time around.

If the arrangements fall in July or later, that'd work out slightly better; however, Morgy would be gone. Just stay in Chicago, man. What's with all the jet-setting...

Unless there is something important going on the weekend this happens, I'm there.

The most likely scenario is that I will be in the Midwest from the last week of August and will be there for 3 or so weeks into September.

So, something on a weekend in September could be doable.

We'll see. Hard to determine the future is.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Morgoth wrote a promise in his own blood that he was going to visit Japan in October. I'm holding him to that.

Here are my feet as I think about it coming to the Reunion.

I have no idea where I'll be and what I'll be doing in either May or August. However, if I can make it up I'll go, as we had a ton of fun last time. We'll see.

I'd be interested, taking the train would likely be my best bet. Late May-summer would be best, though it really depends on what I am doing. I may be doing more archaeological fieldwork, may take classes, I have no idea at this point.

@Bubba, how was taking the train last time?

hehe

if all goes well, i'll be attending school in Windsor/Detroit by the start of Fall.

Chicago doesn't seem that far off from there as it does from the GTA..

It would be great to see you Mental, Morgy will be very disappointed that you aren't able to come out earlier.

You should have it on the same day as the UK BBQ. If the Aussies have one too, we can have a global Malazan BBQ relay.

Tapper, considering the distances involved for a lot of the Americans (like Obdi going from Minneapolis to Chicago) that isn't that different than you traveling to the UK.

As a benchmark, Berlin to London is 931 kilometers. Minneapolis to Chicago 665. Are you saying that seeing Mezla sick on a dog isn't worth the extra 100 kilometers or so? :D
