Graphics are good, game play is polished but I find it somewhat bland. Combat is controlled by one button. You smash with x, stun with Y execute with Z and repeat for 6 hours! Ill play it at some point but no longer a day 1 purchase.

40k has so many potential game ideas it's a shame GW ain't exploiting it more: Mechwarrior style Titan game, battlefleet gothic for ship fans, Inquisition rpg, IG shooter etc.

Turn-based Necromunda tactical game. This could also go for Mordheim (which would be awesome, in fact, both would!)

I often wonder where Warhammer would be today if Blizzard had gotten the rights to use Gameshops universe.

Would Warhammer be more widely known and popular as a result?

Just played the demo and I agree with the wait for it to be cheaper approach. I played most of the demo with BP and Chainsword. It just seemed like the bolter was an add on. I don't even know why they included it in the weapon options.

Oh well, I used to love playing all the different versions of Dynasty Warriors back in the day. Maybe Space Marine will grow on me once I get the full game.

I played the first level of the demo for about 45 minutes and I am incredibly glad I didn't pre-purchase it after those 45, nor do I have much of an incentive to fire the demo up again.

For pc, the basic controls absolutely suck. Right mouse click for chainsword? RIGHT CLICK? REALLY RELIC, WHY PUT THE GUN UNDER LEFT CLICK? The bolter does zero damage and indeed feels like an add-on, so why? Press F for stun, E for execute on the stunned guy? T for fury mode? Combo's to be executed by double right click? Where is the use of Q, Z, Shift, Alt or Ctrl?

Yeah, you should probably be able to re-map everything to a setting more to your liking, but meh, the first experience is marred.

Gameplay-wise, the chainsword animations are moving you ever forward, meaning you will without fail acquire a a monkey (OK, Ork) on your back from the first swing onward, adding more as you wade through the pack of enemies until you face open air and all the bogies are behind you or so spread out you can hunt them down only one at a time when you can hit up to three in a swing. Meh. I'll wait until the prize halves, or drops even further.

was thinking of adding this to the list of games im buying next week (gears3, the witcher 2 and the game of thrones game) but after seeing the reviews im going to wait a while before buying it :p

its not like we have ages to wait before we get a steam sale again lol

They have Space Marine at the local nerd-shop (boardgames, MTG, and banks upon banks of computers to play games on) and it looks very shiny.

But I haven't gotten to lay hands on it yet. The melee weapons look the most fun, since it's not just a spray-all-da-orks type scenario.
