@ Silencer- Nah, Too Human was one of those love it or hate it games. Personally I thought it was fantastic.
There were several problems, of course. For example, the graphics aren't great for being in development for so long, the game
is quite short (it was supposed to get DLC but instead the studio was shut down after its poor sales), and the camera can be frustrating.
Those problems aside, the combat system of moving the thumbsticks to control the sword was cool, the inventory/item crafting system was very well done (great but short dungeon crawling, that lends itself to some replayability on harder difficulties, with increasingly good weapons and armor), and the different classes played well together. I would recommend playing with a friend, each a different class, and it is awesome.
For a $10 game, I recommend it.

The Zero Punctuation review of Too Human had one of the best puns I've ever heard. I'd recommend watching it just for that line (you'll know it when you hear it).

Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

OK, so playing Risen now, I'll add a few things about it, and the Gothic franchise in general, as it's really very similar.
Piranha Bytes' understanding of difficulty is amusing. At the start, you'll be about as strong as a giant rat's right hind leg. Stuff that hits you for 50% of your hp while you hit them for 1% of theirs. The complete lack of level scaling is awesomely refreshing after boringly easy bethesda games.
Anyway, Risen reminds me most of the best part of the Gothic series - Gothic II. You've got an island, you've got the local landlord/crimelord faction of tough guys, you've got a port town and a faction of cityguard/paladins/holy warriors, turf wars, a monastery with mages... Locations are amazingly detailed, and you can see that every bit was hand crafted and placed instead of being made by some sort of terrain creator script. Combat is challanging to say the least, some fights can get quite frustrating (I was reloading and re-attempting beating Brogar in the arena for over two hours), but a lot of what's happening is under your control, so the learning curve is rewarding. The way the game is built, even if you're overgeared for the given enemy, button mashin will get you deaded. Got to pay attention to what you're doing.
As for graphics, they're beautiful, and also make me a happy guy 'cause I can play it at 1440x900 with maxed all details and it's still going smooth. I like my rig.

Personally I really enjoyed the Tales series for the console. Symphonia on the GCN, Vesperia on the 360, and Symphonia 2 on the Wii...all three were very fun with a group of friends, actually.

I must say... Risen is the best of every Gothic game put into one. It's full of shout-outs, analogical elements and characters, repeated tropes etc. It's like playing the original Gothic games the first time once more.
Combat is hellishly hard tho. (GORRAM GHOULS!) I spent about half an hour hacking away at an undead lizard priest yesterday. Half an hour!

Is Risen the one with the weird-as looking levitation spell? Like you're meditating through the air? That ONE thing put me off the entire game. I know, strange and pedantic...but I just can't bring myself to play a game with that animation. XD
Though if you keep singing it's praises, Gothos, like comparing it to the Gothic series...I might have to give it a go!

That's the one. I don't know why you don't like that animation so much, it's pretty cool. I'm nearing the end now, I'm quite the powerhouse, though some enemies can really make me struggle still. Especially in teams. Dancing around 5-6 lizardmen warriors/elites is an art form. Ashbeasts, too.

Ok, having finished once already, I must say Risen is fucking badass awesome. If you liked the original Gothic games, this is a must-play. It brings everything that was awesome in Gothic, and adds stuff that makes it even better. Rather epic story, fantastic landscapes, diverse enemies, challanging combat, great character development system, and a charismatic villain on top of that. Simply speaking: a great game.
I'm wondering how JoWood will handle the fourth part of Gothic. Some features that are supposed to make it more accesible (minimap, quest tracker) ring of dumbing down the game from Prianha-hard to generic action RPG... not a promising prospect.
We shall see I guess.

Morrowind, especially game of the year edition, is fantastic. Freedom to do pretty much whatever the hell you want coupled with hundreds of quests, numerous guilds and factions, and three main storylines.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Well, I have to say that I missed the House selection in Oblivion. It was what made further playthroughs still feel fresh.
