Ok, we've got Night of Knives and Crimson Guard. We've seen the bizzare Riders, forms of water and ice, and we've thought what in Astro's butt gun is that all about. Because compared to raping Teblor, machine making dinos and the four hours Pust once stared into bok'arala's eyes they are alien to us.

Then we've got that weird ice crystal invading Shadow Hold...

So here we go. The shard had some connection to the Riders. It too was trying to get the Shadow throne. It made a reappearance in Crimson Guard. Kyle's dream scene where he voyeured on Rake and Osserc. The latter wanted to examine it, and Rake said it was young and alive and leave it be. Then later we had that cool scene of the three vs Osserc in Shadow Hall, and Osserc realising that shard had grown into ... was it Shadow Hall?

Lets not forget the whole and what seems like forgotten plot line of a ruler assuming the real throne and healing the Shattered Warren of Shadow. Emurlahn. Which could be Trull's kid from his Eres'al rape.

Then Stonewielder is focusing on Jacuruku, which we know is the Riders vs Malazan army vs natives. So we'll be getting more Riders, and I'll bet Raest's cat Tufty we'll see more on this shadow ice.

What do you think?

As I recall, it was a azath house that osserc wanted to take apart and rake said it was young and innocent.

IADMAITTBAS? (i am dolorous menhir and i think these books are sub-par?)

personally i like them, but anyway.

i don't think the shard that is the new shadow house that osserc wants to take apart has anything to do with the ice that is trying to take the shadow throne in NoK. the ice came millenia later, after the young and innocent emurlahn thing grew into shadow keep.

when kellenved and dancer took shadow, the riders were trying to do so at the same time, which is the only connection between the two as far as i know.

and i think you mean korel, not jacuruku

Jacurucku ? I thought Esslemont had said it would be Korelri, with peace on Genabackis, resistance on 7 Cities squashed, and Quon Talian secessions quelled, the new Emperor would set his eyes on this drain of recourses

I am corrected, Korelri then.

Thread derailed, but anyway. Pre-DoD I thought Liosan and Light would be very much the domain of Esslemont since they've been quite absent from TMBOTF, but now it looks like the Liosan might be integral to TCG. Could still be that way, and it will be interesting to see how the Stormriders are developed in the Esslemonts next. Also, the Tyrant and Darujistan with possibly more about the Seguleh seems to be on the horizon. And Assail, I hope he gets to write that one. SE or Esslemont will have to deal with Mallick and the fate of Quon Tali, I doubt TCG will do that.

You never know we might even see the second again, depending on what the crippled god does with Skinner
