Read the whole series at once between January and early April of this year.

Voted 'Ambivalent'.

Though there are several aspects I simply dislike about WoT, there is a lot to say for it as well. Personally it is beyond me how people can, with a straight face, put WoT on the same level as Shannara.

hehe, while there were a few important things happening, overall, the pace was pretty slow, even so, I'll probably buy the next one as I have all the others, and I rather enjoy them, also, there's the fact I've read it up till now, I can't just quit reading when the end should be so close Posted Image

For an even briefer summary of the series, check out book-a-minute. (and while you're there, check out the Harry Potter entry at http://rinkworks.com...ing.stone.shtml.

Actually only Nynaeve tugs her braid.Posted Image But if you can't remember names I really think you have shown amazing determination and will power in getting as far as CoT.
@Wimbold, a lot of people love the prologue but the froom the first chapter onwards Book 1 is very different from it. Just wanted to warn you.Posted Image

Now bump on down to the Phoniex Inn and Introduce yourself at the spot or place that introducing gets done.

Just a question too, what is it about WoT that keeps you going and still obviously loving it at this point ?

Me Im still going to finish it thats for sure, but im sure as hell not going to waste money on the books when in Harcover or trade paperback. I'll wait that extra 6-10 months for MMPaberback.
The series, its okay now, was fairly good in my opinion till plots just in general startted to drag along.

The question that bothers me is - why 95% of the people who love to bash WoT still continue to read it? I mean, I do not like Feist's Magician so I won't bother with another Feist book anytime soon. To read one or two books I would understand but to spend time reading 9 or 10 books and then proclaim it was the biggest pile of crap you have ever read is pretty weird.Posted Image

So much to like, so much to hate. Pretty much sums up the series. However, the stuff to dislike didn't just start in the later books and book 7-9 did not slip in quality as much as some would have you believe. I can't speak for book 10 since I got on the wagon after A Winter's Heart.

Anyway, having half the people in a poll dislike the series says a lot about what is often touted by its fans as the greatest fantasy series ever. Perhaps the only thing left for WOT is a claymation special.

CoT was like half a book. You do need to read it to get the rest of the series. I think most people didn't like it because you are left hanging at the end. It doesn't tie together like the rest of WoT.

By the way New Spring was excellent.

So there will be at least 4 more books maybe 5 or more. A prequel on Tam, Another prequel involving Moraine and Lan going to Two Rivers in the nick of time, and at least 2 more main sequence books, but maybe 3.

...The pronunciation video was bonus. Now I can talk about WOT with confidence. Posted Image

i could finish the wheel of time right now if i wanted, lets see....

one day rand drops seals breaks dark one from prison, all other charatcers pass away in blazze of horrific borking fire described over 4,963 pages. no one starightens skirts, tugs braids or rolls a dice again.

rand pissed off at this sudden end to his book franchise beats dark one up and kills himself screaming why, oh why!!! the wheel breaks the readers live happily ever after.

the end.

I will heed that advice (off-topic: same for Goodkind? Posted Image) cause to me it seems that there is no merit in reading a series that.. breaks down a little (to say it nicely) in the middle of it.
But still, I'll never now what all the fuss is about...

Quick Note on New Spring:

(Possible Spoilers)

I really enjoyed it. However, I found the end rushed and perhaps not set up to well. I also found it a little short. However, it was nice to suck up some of RJ's writing style and learn more about Lan (who now seems a minor character) and.......see Moraine again. Overall not alot happened though it might as well have been called Moraine gets a new shawl and a warder.

i started reading the wheel of time years ago and the first eight had me pretty much hooked while iread them ....

as long as i skimmed the females. There is just something about how jordan percieves woman that totally bores the s**t out of me. When we are subjected to endless desciptions of gowns and outfits, braid pulling, tea drinking back stabbing etc etc etc it just doesnt stop. Why ohh why doesnt just one of the charcters do something original like kill some baddies or slap some sense into people. LIke the whole idea of rand sitting there playing politics or elaine or anyone, havent these people heard of assassins, why worry about someone if u kill them? i know i would be alot happier if most of the female characters died just as long as they left CAEMLYN!!!!!

sorry bout that got a bit carried away. ofcourse ill read the next few but im not expecting much and doubt they will be release for ages.

A gold quill on green checks...Maybe Martin is just saying that RJ is a rich son of a bitch.
Easy problem to solve. Someone should just email him. He usually responds within a few weeks.

well, when he names some of the creatures in the series Trollocs, which rhymes with bollocks, i think that he kind of signed his own death warrant really. Posted Image
