If MBotF was made into a movie, who would play who?

I thought this would be a fun topic. Any characters can be listed from any books but please refrain from spoilers as I am only on MoI.
Here's my list so far (in no particular order):
Dujek - Sean Connery
Whiskeyjack - Gary Oldman
Kruppe - Jon Lovitz or Jason Alexander
Paran - Hugh Jackman
Icarium - Would probably have to be CGI, voiced by Kelsey Grammer.
Quick Ben - Samuel L. Jackson
Kalam - Djimon Hounsou
Coltaine - Johnny Depp
Lady Envy - Angelina Jolie
Duiker - Alan Rickman
Fiddler - Robert Downey Jr.
Baudin - Ron Perlman
Felisin - Natalie Portman
Apsalar - I wanna say Megan Fox for the look, but she's such a bad actress.
Gruntle - Mickey Rourke
Itkovian - Gerard Butler
Rallick Nom - Edward Norton
Tattersail - Drew Barrymore
That's all I can think of for now. I'll put more when/if they come to me. I am also stumped at who would play Rake, or if CGI is needed, who would voice him.

There is already a thread on this exact topic but it's in the Toll the Hounds forum so best stay from there.
There are some good suggestions in both that list and yours, but a common issue is that people (including myself) repeatedly ignore the actual ethnic descriptions of people from the books. For me it was Dassem, as I had pictured him darker in my mind whereas in the books he's described as being dusky skinned.
Another common one is Apsalar who is described as Kanese, which means her eyes have epicanthic folds. This would by our reckoning, make her ethnically Asian, possibly even Native American or Inuit.
But enough of that, on to suggestions
Not really sure if he could play the funny side of Quick Ben, but physically he matches the description and can definitely can do the intensity,
Quick Ben = Lance Reddick (LT Daniels in The Wire, Agent Broyles in Fringe)

A few ones on that list are kinda close. But so many are so wrong and off..
Hugh Jackamn is far too old for Ganoes Paran, someone more along the lines of Josh Hartnet or about that age. Young, good looking enough to get girls swooning over one character/actor, but also not quite too young.
Jasan Alexander is a joke for Kruppe I hope.
Apsalar is described as similar to Half Asian (or full?) as well so Megan fox is a way off as well.
Sean Connery is a little too big for Dujek.
Billy Bob Thornton would be far better for Dujek. He was one of the actos Christ P(Patch) had in mind as well when writing the script for Chain of Dogs.

Jason Alexander wasn't a joke, but I agree it isn't the best choice. Jon Lovitz on the other hand would be perfect. As for Apsalar, yeah I forgot about her being Asain in appearance, but I've always pictured her as caucasian. One thing is for certain, she has to be hot lol. As for Billy Bob Thornton as Dujek, I think that's a terrible choice. Sean Connery would pull off Dujeks virtuous and dignified persona much better. Not to mention Dujeks stature has never really been described (at least not as far as I've read) so I don't think it's fair to say Sean Connery is too big to play him. I agree that Hugh Jackman for Paran wouldn't be the best choice, it was just the only one I could think of. A younger actor is indeed required, but I think someone like Josh Hartnett would be too much of a pretty-boy to play Paran. Maybe Christian Bale? I know he's not the youngest either but hollywood magic can fix that. Lance Reddick is a GREAT choice for Quick Ben. Can anyone think of who would be good for Rake?

You realize that for as far as you've read (MoI) Apsalar is like 14. Right?

Where exactly does it say that she is 14? She's been described as at least 17-18, more-or-less developed and easy on the eyes. Think about it, she joined the army a few years before the major events of GotM. The recruiter commented on her young age, but she couldn't have been 12, they weren't recruiting children. She must have been around 15-16. Meaning by DG she is around 17-18.

Zhang Ziyi for apsalar, since she can look a lot younger than she is.
Serena Williams should play Hetan.
Christopher Walken as Kallor
I say cast Illy as Kruppe

LMAO Christopher Walken as Kallor would be AWESOME. Who is Illy?
If only Marlon Brando was alive I would say he could play the Crippled God. Granted I have only seen the Crippled God twice (once with the merchant at the beginning of MoI and the time with Quick Ben) but I can totally hear Brando's wheezing "Godfather" voice coming from the Fallen One.

Nathan Fillion for Ganoes Paran.
Also, Johnny Depp as Coltaine has me dry heaving.

I'd hesitate to call Dujek virtuous and dignified.
I'd argue the war between Brood/Rake and the Malazans got more civilized because of Whiskeyjack's influence, rather than Dujek. Dujek seemed much more willing to take the dirty route if needed.
Can a mod merge these?

I think he'd try to be too funny and it would just end up weird. Like how Sherlock Holmes has become Tony Stark. He might make a good Torvald though. Might be my impressions are a bit colored by how awesome the illy made him out to be...
And Midnight Tides/Reapers Gale "spoiler"
Spoiler
Oh yeah: Doesn't the recruiter in Gardens say that she (Apsie) looks "twelve" (and they could well recruit children... cause, well, it happens) and Gardens takes place only a year or two before deadhouse gates, right? So: fourteen.

Nathan Fillion MUST be in it somewhere...perhaps as Keneb? He's got the whole captain thing sorted out.
How about James McAvoy for Bottle? Or perhaps he could play Ganoes Paran-I mean, there seems to be no shortage of contenders for that role...

Excellent choice! I think he would play Quick Ben perfectly.
Oh, and I would like to see Tilda Swinton playing Laseeen...

I always thought Summer Glau would make a good Apsalar. Maybe its cos she plays a kick ass killer weird chick in Firefly and Serenity but I think she would do well there...

Owen Wilson and Bruce Campbell as two of the Bole brothers.
Jet Li as Cotillion, simply because I can't imagine anyone looking more convincing in a fight than him. He's too short though.
The guy who played Cipher in the Matrix as Hairlock.
Oh! And the Olson twins as Nil and Nether.
What? Wait! What'd I say? Why are you sharpening those axes?

No. Simply no, the poor girl is typecast enough as it is, not to mention the whole ass kicking thing doesn't really start until later.
I'm backing Shin's idea of Zhang Ziyi on thin one.

Bruce Campbell does indeed need to be in these movies though not as the Bole Brother. He needs a slightly more recurring role... Could he play Tehol?
No on the Jet Li as Cotillion though, it makes no sense.
Cypher as Hairlock is a great idea.
I'm sure the Olsen twins could be added as Nethpara's nieces or something that get killed somewhere on the Chain.
I'd also like to add that Kevin McKidd must be in here somewhere.

Well... thinking about the cast size, and the cost of Hollywood A-lists, and the likely budget of it, and the insistence Hollywood would have on there being an A-list... I suppose they'd get one of two of today's biggest names for some key parts, and pressure SE in to skewing the script to put far more focus on these chars and totally losing the multiple PoV style.
Oh, and after SE leaves the project in justified disgust, the new screenwriter will make Rake in to a full-on bad guy, because Hollywood abhors any ambiguity in the moral stance. GotM would be released in this awful state. By this time writing any workable version of DG or MoI would be out of the question since they rely on plot directions that the plot-changing for GotM has destroyed.
SE and Philip Pullman will meet for a pint and discuss how they ever let their respective intellectual properties be abused so badly.

I think Gerald Butler would be great for Wiskeyjack. Also, Alan Rickman would be a great choice, but I'd rather see him as a bad guy. What about Shadowthrone? Any Ideas for him.
What about Clint Eastwood as Kallor?
