KICK-ASS has been coined to be the comic book movie of the year.
Its the "deconstruction of the super hero" movie that WATCHMEN should have been.

Have any of you read the comic?

I have seen a bootleg version of a longer trailer and i must say if fucking rocks! (bootleg is almost too distorted to see whats going on so i will post the proper one once it comes out in better quality)

Heres the shorter "official" trailer which for me doesnt do as much justice as the longer version does but still has some real good tidbits .
This movie is going to fucking rock in my humble opinion.

Heh. Looks pretty funny, though I can imagine there might be a bunch of sentimental crap towards the end where he realises what a "true hero" can be or something. I hope there isn't...

I've got the first... run? First series? or something somewhere on my comics harddrive. I read the first two issues but filed them away because I was busy reading the X-men.

The film seems to be a bit more comedy than drama. And it certainly doesn't seem to have the raw feel of the begining I read. The story starts with him, a dumb kid who thinks he could be a superhero, attacking a gang who proceed to beat him up, stab him in the guts and the first issue ends with him staggering out in front of a car and getting run down.

It was pretty fucking awesome.

Hmmm. Well, the advert looks really good, which I have to admit comes as a shock. But a pleasant surprise ;)

There have been some test screenings and Ive read a few reviews from people who went to these screenings.
And the general consensus is that this is the comic book movie of the year...

The trailer is very well done. Colour me impressed.

I didn't pay enough attention at the end of the trailer to notice when it's due for release. Any ideas?

Cheers for that dktorode. I suppose April isn't too far away.

Was looking at the cinema listings this evening and couldn't see anything interesting either now, or on the coming soon list. I think Sherlock Holmes might be the first thing I'd actually want to go to see. I'll reserve judgement on Clash of The Titans until i start seeing actual reviews of it. Fingers crossed for that since i loved the old cheesy version as a kid.

The comic series is not even done yet. Vaughn optioned it before the comic was even released.

Seriously this movie was extremely well received at the recent BNAT (Butt-Numb-A-Thon) movie festival...it was shown among movies like SHUTTER ISLAND, AVATAR, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's MicMacs (apparently also fkin awesome)...as well as the Ironman Trailer debut... and was still the most talked about movie after the marathon screening.
Was a clear crowd favourite...or so they say.

I'd like to go and see this, but I think the missus has had enough of comic book movies for a while.

The trailer looks good, though the use of the word "c**ts" seemed a bit (pointlessly) over the top.

'Aye.' It's a good word. I think. More a whole attitude than a word, really. With lots of meaning in it, too. A bit of 'yes' and a bit of 'well fuck' and maybe some 'we're all in this together.' So a word to some up the Malazans. <Sunrise>

Ha, looks hilarious. Provided that Nick Cage doesn't go all Ghost Rider on us...
