@rly

I KNOW. Its fricken awesome looking at it now and seeing a solid mass of fur rather than a mangy sparse awful thing.

Gonna have to start trimming the upper lip here pretty soon. Its starting to curl into my mouth...or am I supposed to just keep training it to the outside?

@darkwatch

*strokes beard in thought* I'm not sure I'm at a disadvantage entirely. I do have a woman to annoy with my beard...and that's at least as good as not having one to impress at all.

Well it always depends on the woman.
I mean some women are very strict about these things. I've know quite a few who have blown a serious gasket with their boyfriend's beard.
I myself have had no less than 7 women trying to get me to shave over the years. To the point where 3 have seriously tried to by me a razor.
So it always depends.
But I have only one thing to say, the beard has prevailed in every battle, it remains undefeated.

I'm having problems with the 'stache going in the mouth too. I've decided to train it to the outside instead of trimming, as it will eventually appear thicker that way.

The peach fuzz is coming along great. Got a few compliments from various people today. One kid told me I had a moustache.

Make of that what you will.

well, I officially love this thread. So awesome.

I think I'm going to join RLY's crew and train the stache to the outside for as long as I can tolerate it.

does anybody else get a little tingle from their beard now and then, like when you flex facial muscles while smiling or frowning and feel the hairs rubbing against each other.

Entirely pleasant.

Keep my upper lip trimmed in general, less annoying for me.
I've also taken to combing and brushing the beard because at the length it has it could become a bad tangle.

I've been struggling with the same for the past few years. Succeed in this endeavour and I shall demand to know how you did it. It is my lifelong dream to acquire a proper pirate's moustache.

It's usually the opposite way for me, so trimming makes the 'stache seem thicker. Try it, and you'll see.

The tache is the only bit that I'm not too happy with... It just doesn't grow at the same rate as the rest of the hair... How will I ever get my hair like this if that happens??

Well if no one minds I'm in. ;)

Did start mine three weeks ago though and found this topic last night. Anyway, I going full beard and plan to at least let it grow during November and perhaps December and it's turning out better than I dared to hope (not saying much) so if anyone's interested I might even post a picture of it later on. :)

P.S. Should a smiley be considered a punctuation mark or not?

EDIT: Punctuation marks it is :D

No one minds. If they do, shoot them. Yes, we like pictures on this forum. No, a smiley doesn't count as a punctuation mark. Please edit your post to make it right.

mother of god.

I bow to that beardy sideburnlike growth.

If I can ever achieve that I'll kill myself, because I'll know no matter what I do, life won't get better.

Kinda like how neil armstrong should've killed himself after returning home from the moon instead of turning into a grouchy old man. I would have serisously contemplated it were I him.

EDIT for morning grammar

So, well I'm not really new but I tend to lurk more than I post. Still I find that the majority of frequent poster are "excentric" *looks around carefully* so I didn't really know how to start.

However, I must say that that is one fine mustache. Still perhaps not what I'm after, so I leave it to others.

EDIT: and it might be hard to look down to the side with it

He obviously doesn't do a lot work with machines. I'd be terrified of getting that thing stuck in chain or a gear.

Part of the reason I cut my long hair was that it was forever getting dipped into engine oil or grease when I worked on the tractors.

I imagine with a look like that, career options are somewhat limited...

Superior facial hair is superior.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Mine has been going strong for a few weeks now. At first the wife has some mild objections, growing strong every day, but no she seems to have accepted the fact that I am going to try this thing for few months at least. Before I had a goatee, now a full beard. Have clipped it a few times now, I probably should buy a trimmer, I want to keep it at about 1cm length, except for the stache, which I like to keep at about 5mm. I'm not into a stache that hangs over, so, all hairs should get equal length. Any advise on trimmers, btw?

You need something that comes with the adjustable head attachment. Also when using it directly it should be cutting the hair not pulling, this is a common and painful problem.
My Philipps is pretty good and, doesn't pull the hairs and the adjustable head makes shaving at specific lengths easy. Always keep scissors though since precision work is hell with any clipper.

a few weeks

a few weeks

a few weeks

a few weeks

a few fucking weeks?!?!?!?!

Christ. I might as well not be playing. Mine's over a month now and doesn't look anywhere NEAR as full as that. Not even close!

On a sidenote though, I'm the subject of a photo shoot today at my wind tunnel. We hired a professional photographer to take some action shots of science in the making for marketing purposes.

I get to do this photo shoot with a beard, wearing a tweed coat. I expect an IQ increase of at least 15 points as a result.
