were the enemies really easy doing it the glitch way? or is this where the combat is scaled to the correct level?
Also will all of the party start at the same level you glitch to?

The bosses were easier. I took out the troll in the Tower of Ishal in about 15 seconds. The other enemies (bandits, Darkspawn, etc) were about the same. I liked it because it gives you so much more abilities to use from the start. As for your companions, they start at the same level as you so you can't really customize them very much (except for Allistar, as he is with you during the glitch). You can add a few abilities or skills to them, but not very many. The only ones you really lose out on are the mages. Also, I think the dog is glitched, because it wouldn't let me give him any attributes even though he had slots available.

I finally got hold of this, started playing last night. Great game so far, just a couple of questions before I get any further..
How do you get to be a specialist ie dualist/assassin etc?
Also, I've met a few characters now that want to join the party - is it good to let them join, so you can pick/change the party? Or is ok to turn away those you don't like or need, and concentrate on a small group?
Only asking cos in other games like FF you find out later in the game that you actually need a particular character for something specific, or miss out on something if you haven't got them.
I'm playing as a rogue, so far I have Morrigan, Beef (the dog) Alistair, and I just picked up Leliana, although she is also a rogue, and a hugely irritating one at that. Then there's the guy in the cage, who looks like he might be useful.

ok, so for the specializations you either have to learn them from a certain character found in the world (often from a party member once they like you enough) or from a book bought off of a merchant (ie. dwarf merchant in Denerim sells Berzerker for warriors). Once you have that specialization, you also need to be the right level to gain a point to spend. I think those occur at 12 and 18, or something like that.
As for your party, it is easy to change who is involved. Everyone gains the same experience, whether in the group or in camp, so it makes it easy to use everyone depending on the situation. Sometimes you want 2 mages, sometimes 3 warriors hehe. So yeah, it is a good thing to recruit them all. Plus as I said, most teach a certain specialization.

Leliana is awesome man, I dunno what you mean! You can make her ditch the chantry bullshit and go back to thinking like a proper orlesian Bard
plus she's a lot better for a romance focus than Morrigan...

Except her personal quest is really ghey.
If you're looking for Rogue specialisations, you can get Ranger from that merchant in the camp, Leliana will teach you Bard if she likes you enough (above +30 I think), you can get Duelist by talking to Isabela and either: pleasuuuuure her (only if you're a woman I think) or catch her cheating in the card game she gets you to play (you need to have relatively high dexterity, but as a rogue that shouldn't be a problem), and you can get Assassin by buttering up Zevran (eww).
As for the mages, you can get Shapeshifter by getting Morrigan to teach you (although she stops if she likes you enough wierdly, so if she's positively neutral you can get it), Spirit Healer from the magic shop in Denerim, Blood Mage from heading into the Fade yourself in the Redcliffe quest and getting the appropriate reward from the demon, and Arcane Warrior from the phylactery in the Elven Ruins.
For warriors, you can get Beserker from Oghren if he likes you enough (you collect a lot of booze, so just give him that), Templar from Alistair, Champion from the Arl of Redcliffe after that quest, and Reaver if you defile some ashes in the same quest (you can save before the decision, then go back to your old save after you get it to get both as they're exclusive).

I haven't played the game, yet, but I'm pretty sure that it's been said earlier in this thread that Reaver and Champion aren't exclusive. You can get both without manipulating saves and whatnot.

new DLC is coming out on January 5th. It's called Return to Ostagar and is exactly that. Cost is 400 microsoft points on xbox, so should be about $5 on PC.

I will be getting this, downloading Warden's Keep today.

heh just started a replay as a dwarf rogue, did the level glitch to get lvl 21 assassin/duelist combo.
So I got warden's keep for my storage, and just won't play for the next few days.
Instead, I'll go with another bioware gem in Mass Effect, the original to finish my second playthrough for the next ones release.

This game is great fun. I'm probably only about half way through, but I'm liking the battle options - changing the tactics really makes a big difference. I'm playing as a rogue - I don't know what the level glitch is, but whatever it is I think i missed it.
Only problems so far... as mentioned before, the codex doesn't always update correctly.
Also, in an RPG that lets you 'role play' a character, why does your character object or react like you're giving them orders, rather than making choices for them? It bugs me constantly that whenever you open a chest, pick something up, or attack, you get stupid speech saying stuff like 'do I have to?' or 'ok, what else do you want me to do?' It totally seems at odds with the way the game is played.
Minor flaw, anyways, I'm playing it every day now.

No kidding, listening to my rogue character say "Done, anything else?" 200 friggin times a day is a little annoying.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

For some odd reason, the DLC was delayed until further notice, which sucks.
However, the good news that came from that delay was the announcement of a legit expansion- Awakening.

Hey So I see this game gets quite a bit of knocking for graphics. However Watching youtube I saw some excellent graphics in my opinion. I mean you will never think its real but it looks good. That said I have noticed that some videos have much better graphics than others? Whats going on with that? PC vs console? HD TVs?
Also what are the controls like on console? How do you manage so many skills and actions without a keyboard?

The better graphics are supposed to be on PC. Console is easy, there's 8 buttons to work with, no problems.
