since stories hold clues, I doubt that is a good idea.

Well, seems those vague misgivings I had about Meanas might have actually been worth something. The only possible reason I can think of for this to be a scum play is if Kaschan/one of Kaschan's buddies gets some kind of ridiculously awesome ability when they go up another level, but that seems pretty farfetched. So trating it as a legit finder reveal seems like the right way to go at this point.

The scene I believe was more likely a lover connection being made.

If it was an attempted kill but the guy in the car saving her, then I would have expected to have see mention of that russian sniper or something of the sort before the car comes along.

If it was some sort of finder, I would have expected a black van to pull up and guys in Balaclavas to drag the woman off instead.

Further to that, my guess is that the woman is the one whose bus got sabotaged, and the man is the guy who has been seen thinking about how great his car is. Seems to make sense, given that she was looking for a lift...
