Kruppe is without doubt that you are well aware of Kruppe's natural aversion to all things troubling and in any way work related. Why, simply formatting his posts is almost too much labor for Kruppe to bear, and his exhaustion must needs be periodically (frequently) assauged with various and sundry icy draughts and crunchy snacks, lest he waste away from the Herculean effort.

Would that this were so. Alas, it is not. However, good Kruppe is ever mindful of the value of enhancing the verisimilitude of his online persona, and will in future endeavour to colour and flavour his eagerly anticipated missives with the forms and conventions of the Queen's English.

Welcome Friend Kruppe,

Kruppe is rendered nearly speechless by your generous outpouring of hospitality and fellowship. Kruppe is relieved that one among you has not forgotten the purpose of this topic, and welcomed Kruppe into the bosom of these worthy forums! Kruppe will never forget this moment and only regrets that his tears of joy are intermingled with and thus indistinguishable from the runnels of sweat pouring down from his furrowed brow. Kruppe bows as low as he is able to you, gentle Zanth!

Nono, it's some sort of viral marketing ploy leading up to the manky meet. Coincidence that it begins the monday before the manky meet's weekend? I think not! (Of course this does not rule out it being SE/ICE, they could be planning to sabotage the manky meet even if Het/Mal aren't in cahoots)

Since I've had my first post, I thought I'd head over to introduce myself.
I finaly got to the Malazan books just this year. I've been reading fantasy for the past few years, and pretty well caught up with all the recommended 'greats'. I had held off on Erikson due to some ambivalence regarding the first book, but decided to form my own opinion this spring. Well, I ended up reading all the books (plus Esselmont's) by June, and have just started a reread. Needless to say , I love them. I've found this forum very helpful in clarifying some issues.
I prefer epic fantasy, and some other of my favorite authors include:
Tolkien - got me started on fantasy. The Silmarillion is my favorite.
GG Kay - with the exception of Ysabel
GRR Martin
Robin Hobbs
Joe Abercrombie

In between reading, I play PC adventures (Riven is my all time favorite) and I garden when our short season allows.

Welcome elvet, and most worthy friend Kruppe of Darujhistan! :wallbash:
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Hello everyone!

My name is Sori - not to be confused with Sorry/Apsalar, if I did use a character for a sign-in name I'd probably use Bugg :wallbash:

I've read all the books except for Reaper's Gale - I've started it but I find it hard to stay interested in it at the moment, it doesn't feel like anything is really happening but I'm sure it picks up eventually.

I am a real fan of the Bridgeburner's - they remind me of the Chosen Men from the Sharpe series as well as true-life stories of Australian troops in past wars (the dark humour especially). I really like how pragmatic they are - if you took the other stories and plot-lines away I'd still love the books.

Nice to meet you all.

Sori

Welcome to the forums Sori, elvet and Kruppe, and Sori stick with Reapers Gale, about half way though it gets a hell of a lot better.

Greetings All! I've been lurking on this site for about a year, and have now read all the available Malazan books (still waiting for The Bauchelain and KB omnibus to become available in the states). I finally decided to sign up and participate. Anyhow, this has been an invaluable site in helping to understand what's going on in the series as I've crept along, and I can't wait for DoD to come out. I've been following Pat's thread every 20 mins or so like it's the book itself :wallbash: WANT DOD NOW! Thinking of ordering from the UK Amazon site as soon as it's available.

Late,
Pilgrim

Hello Pilgrim and welcome.

I'm sure you are not the only one clamouring for DoD !!!
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Aaii! Innocent Kruppe is beset assailed and harried by doubting Thumbalinas from all quarters!

Alts are against the rules, and Kruppe is nothing if not an honest citizen; holding rules, regulations, prohibitions, ordinances, commandments and taboos of every stripe sacred. Kruppe has no ulterior motives beyond his usual ones of pulling strings behind the scenes and his (hopefully) forgivable efforts to cadge a free meal or three.

Greetings and welcome from Kruppe, dear elvet!

Kruppe, too, has only recently disembarked here from the Moon, where he also tried a spot of gardening, and discoverered that not only is the growing season unseasonably brief by half, but that while puttering without, Kruppe had been unceremoniously banished to the wrong side of the airlock. Hmm...

Welcome elvet, and most worthy friend Kruppe of Darujhistan!

Thank you, good Salt man Z! In the interim since Kruppe replied to your too kind Visitor Message with a (who would suspect?) character limit exceeding message of his own, Kruppe has discovered yet a third instance of serendipitous congruence of our paths. Yes, Kruppe has visited your praiseworthy comic website, and humbly invites you to visit Kruppe's own, a link to which abides somewhere hereabouts, though its exact location has Kruppe himself uncharacteristically befuddled.

Hello, friend sori, not to be confused with Sorry/Apsalar! Welcome anyway, enjoy the board and the books

Erikson has a history of making alt accounts (well ok, he did it once. A long time ago). But you'd think he has better things to do with his time at the moment, since it's stressful enough on him to finish a book per year without taking time out to break Apt's brain. So welcome Kruppe, enjoy your time here regardless!

And welcome to Sori and Pilgrim also :p

Why thank you, potent and awe inspiring Warlord!

Yes, Kruppe is having a grande olde tyme here thus far (despite being severely handicapped by the apparently small-minded denizens  of the Debate/Discussion forum, who have straitjacketed and hobbled good Kruppe by forcing him to abandon at the gates his amusing Kruppe Format and third-person-speak when generously contributing his uncannily brilliant insights and stupendously edifying and enlightening observations to that Benighted Demesne. :broody: ).
