Haven't done this for a while...
*ahem*
A big welcome to all the new folks who have arrived since the last time I said hello. Have a look around, there's much of interest to find. We're also quite a friendly bunch, despite outward appearances; I mean, we even gave a warm welcome to a Goodkind fan and if that isn't above and beyond etc... I don't know what is.
Pop into the Discussions and have a chat; there's bound to be someone who disagrees with you vehemently (that person is quite likely to be me, if the evidence of the past is anything to go by...) And poke your head into the Other Literature subforum and you can argue (with me again, most likely) about the books and authors you love and hate. The Movies, Music and TV subforum is worth your time too; where you may find yourself defending your love of Star Trek amongst other things to me (Is anyone else spotting a pattern here...?)
And, spoilers permitting obviously, make sure you go into the Book Forums (it's why we're all here, after all) for wild theorising and masses of overthinking about the books themselves (and very little argument from me, rather surprisingly...)
Enjoy.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants.
