What do you mean I'm a bad influence?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

It doesn't matter what you say, for the most part. We are welcoming. Just randomly hop in.... seriously. You are invited.

Whatever you want. For real. We are all friends in here. For real. Advice, stories, fun times all get thrown around in here. Don't worry about posting useless stuff. We'll tell you to stop if you do! Nicely and whatnot! :) We are a very friendly group.

Ah, I can see this is going to be a very nice place to be around. Very nice indeed. So much humour, so many theories, and discussions that I can actually get involved in. -Insert emote of grinning and rubbing hands together-

Starting to read TtH.

Welcome, Leo! I'm sure AIJ (our resident Spambot) will love your avatar. Gotta get rid of the sig pic though, house rules and whatnot.

Enjoy the forums! :p

I was wondering why nobody had siggy pics.

*Waits for the perfect chance to bring up whiskey in a discussion with rodeo*

Oh! You're canadian. You should mail Rodeo a case of scotch whiskey and see what happens. Take surveillance pictures.

Hello! I guess this is a re-introduction as you've redone the site on me. I didn't know the old link was dead until I got a 404 on it, so I Googled "malazan" and found the new site. It's really nice, too! I looked around a bit and saw the writing contest and maybe I'll write something since I have until September to finish 7500 words. Now if I can just think of a plot...

Erm... "Hey!" to all you new folks...

Oh. And bacon....

I think that's all the bases covered...
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Hello! I'm new here too.

I'm 27 years old from Norway, and I think (my memory isn't sure about this) I started reading MBOTF because I found GOTM on sale, had heard the name and thought it looked fascinating. I've read some fantasy before (mostly Wheel of Time) and wanted something different, something darker and cooler and better and different.

Now I've read Gardens of the Moon and Deadhouse Gates, and wow! Yeah! MBOTF is simply fantastic! Let me put it this way: it's the first fantasy I've read that's made me get tears in my eyes (that was near the end of Deadhouse Gates... I won't say anything else (to not spoil for anyone) but if you've read it I guess you know what part I mean.)

My favorite character so far is Sorry/Apsalar - she rules :p

Right now I'm thinking of either starting Memories of Ice, or re-reading GOTM & DG..

Well, after-dinner coffee & back to work for me now!

This post has been edited by Dark Side of the Garden of the Moon: 10 May 2009 - 04:09 PM

My reading order (so far): GotM -> DG -> GotM -> DG -> MoI -> HoC -> MT -> NoK -> GotM -> DG -> MoI-> HoC
