I was one of the first to catch on to STD as a shortening, just because it's funny how ironic that name is... unless he has a secret life I don't know about :p

Sorry to break it to you, but it has been around for quite a long time before you ever got hold of it, I'm afraid :p.
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Hey guys, read GotM over the summer, then looked for the next book and realized it took place on an entirely different continent with almost all new characters and said "screw this I'm not getting involved with another unfinished massive series"...a couple months later I got bored, need a fantasy fix, and started picking them up and reading them. MoI was amazing and really got me into the series and I just finished RG with TtH on my bookshelf. Creeped around the site for awhile and just found this section. That intro was about 4 times longer than I initially planned it to be.
So, you're the historian who survived the Chain of Dogs.
Actually, I didn't.

It seems you stand alone.
It was ever thus.

Welcome! DG threw, I think, just about everybody! However, the sheer brilliance of the Chain of Dogs is where I think SE truly began his legacy of a masterful writer of epic fantasy.

Good to have you here!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Hey there,
I'm kinda new to these books am hoping someone can shed some light on the whole matter.
I've just finished House of Chains but have read the Bonehunters (long ago) previously and was wondering where i can get a list of the series books? There also seems to be some extras published by another author/s?
Also, Any stories concerning the (these guys rule) Mott Irregulars? What about the Seguleh? The Mekros? Forkrul Assail? or am i getting ahead of myself? Do we hear from Toc again? And the Talon? And Tool (whose now flesh?) I think they were in BH but then again, long ago.....?

Somebody......?

Anybody......?

:Surprise:

The original Malazan Series by Steven Erikson:

1. Gardens of the Moon
2. Deadhouse Gates
3. Memories of Ice
4. House of Chains
5. Midnight Tides
6. The Bonehunters
7. Reaper's Gale
8. Toll the Hounds
9. Dust of Dreams (forthcoming)
10. The Crippled God (forthcoming)

Ian Cameron Esslemont:

Night of Knives, set pre Gardens of the Moon, released well into SE's series.
The Return of the Crimson Guard, released after Toll the Hounds, but was supposed to be released prior to it.

The Korbal Broach short stories have been released, but more are pending (unavailable in the U.S. bookshop at this point)

Welcome to the forums, and feel free to ask questions about the series! (There are no "Bole". "Seguleh", "Meckros", or "FA" books as of now. You do learn some about these subjects during the series).

Hey, Cheers for that.
Had a gawk at the local library and they've got most of the original series (no Reapers Gale - Gutted!) but they haven't even heard of any of the others! Time to look elsewhere me thinks.

WHAT! No more Bole Brothers, High Marshals or Mott Wood? Right, who do I complain to? Why are there no petitions? Where do I send rotten fish.........?

Welcome, but fair warning, you'll find little support for your Goodkind propaganda 'round these parts.

Yeah, he's been warned multiple times. He/She seems set to convince us all of Terry's greatness. WELCOME!

It's been tried before and I'm sure it'll be tried again. Can't he tell we've had our inoculations against Tairy Fever? Oh well.

Nonetheless... Welcome to all the new folks. Despite the abundant evidence to the contrary we're all friendly and don't bite... much.

Enjoy yourselves and Hey! Be careful out there.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Hey new people! I am presently stuck in a hotel room on a training course and presently hate just about anyone who crosses my path which includes you, sorry.

Normal service will resume next week. Oh and due to the way we do things here we will be needing to sacrificing 1 in 3 of all noobs to appease the gods. If you get chosen...I promise it will be painful. If you manage to survive the first week, then consider yourself one if the lucky ones. Have a nice day.

Oh and Muhahahaha!

Hi to all. This is one kickass site. Count another noob in. I'll have to take my chances with the sacrifices. Just don't force me into sealing up a rent (unless I can grab an Andii head on the way).

There was a new members thread -.- bugger
Just wanted to say hi to everyone and add that I was happy to find a community that enjoys Erikon's writings, I was gettin the feeling he hadn't got any of the recognition he should rightfully have earned, having created the best series I've ever read.

Also on a side note, how do you get Apt to like you?
