Well you've found a place with good discussions and evil people.

We are actually nice people, but worry's evilness(is that a word?) exceeds us all.

are we nice people?

We are nice to new people if nothing else

Hey I just joined. Finished reading all the books a while ago and was interested in getting nostalgic about them. So here I am.

Hi there! I'm a newbie to the forum and the series (just finished Deadhouse Gates). What I've read so far is way too complex and awesome to read on my own so I signed up to discuss the books here. Posted Image

Welcome! Discussion definitely does help with Malazan.

Post any questions, comments in respective book forums, avoid General Book topics like the plague until you are done, and do not google anything. And you should be fine!

Yeah, leave the general books topic alone for now, unless you enjoy playing 'avoid the spoiler' on hard mode.

Also, welcome!

Edit. Also, definitely the wrong browser.

Hi ho, hum. Long time lurker here. Read GoTM thru till tBH quite some years ago. For some reason life got in the way but fortunately my hermit persona caught up with me and I started a reread about three weeks ago. Halfway through DG now. Decided to check on reading order here and after studiying the order jpg in the noobs section just ordered NOK. So. Thanks for that! All other advice very welcome. Gonna rummage around the forum a bit, see you around Posted Image

Well, I've only just started GotM, and fully expect to need your help getting the most out of it.

I will also be using the Tor re-read blog posts as a resource.

See you in the forums!

Enjoy the ride!
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

See you in the forums!

Remember that each book-specific forum has a policy of allowing spoilers up to the end of that book. Also, that Amanda is the new-to-series reader in the Tor re-read and Bill is giving some slightly spoilerish thoughts on his re-read write-ups.

You can enact a policy of not reading the other threads in the book-specific forums here and start your own thread to ask people any questions you want. We'll try to not spoil anything for you and preserve your enjoyment of the series.

Hello fellow Malazanites, I am named Grimm, Sergant Grimm as I am a veteran already in his second reread of this brilliant series. I'm very pleased to have found this site, finnally I will be able to share ideas on this series we've all learned to appreciate, as I think I am the only malazanite in Luxembourg (if not I would pleased to meet any luxembourgish fan, especially if they are female and are easy to look upon, but I am clearly digressing). Anyhow, I am looking forward to debate heatedly with all of you on this literary master piece, which I will only stop celebrating when Hood himself will come to collect my sorry soul.

Good evening all!

I just finished Gardens of the Moon, and I have to say, I've never devoured a book so fast in my life. Nothing compares, and I just started Deadhouse Gates this morning. I'm so excited to find this group, and I look forward to perusing the forums and talking about the books!

Welcome! For your own spoiler safety for now only read the GotM subforum. Until you finish DG, even the DG sub can spoil you. So if you have any DG questions, instead of looking through everything start a thread in the DG sub and we will help.

Also, nice username!

Hello!

I'm new to the series, wanted to find a big fantasy series to immerse myself in, and Malazan seemed like the one for me. Finished Gardens of the Moon last night, luckily I had heard I would not know what was going on and to push through and go with it. At first I took it slow, but I found the further I got in the more I wanted to keep reading, I devoured the last 200 pages or so all yesterday. Needless to say though I was a little bit lost at times, I loved it, I feel like I've revealed a small part of a large painting, and am looking forward to finding out more! Will be starting Deadhouse Gates soon, and I'm debating whether or not I should read the Esslemont novels intertwined with the main series, or read them after, as adding them into the mix will make a very intimidating series even bigger!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was a little lost when I started GotM, and I also couldn't put it down for the last couple hundred pages, that was 10 months ago, just started The Crippled God last week. These books are awesome, Steven Erikson is awesomer, more awesome? awesomest? Great storytelling.
