He was guarding Despot's Barbican. But this is probably not the best place to discuss this, as we sort of know where he's buried thanks to TTH.

i presume he means humble measures cavern offices underneath darujhistan. a "presence" is mentioned, so i/you could speculate that the tyrant sleeps nearby

so you think the tyrant sleeps? or is trapped? do you have an idea who the tyrant is?

maybe i was just interested in what you had to say on the matter! no one has convinced me of anything, but i liked your take on things as above!

kruppe does indeed see murilio's death coming, thats half the reason why he's so sad through-out the book, but really was there no mercy? things worked out after a fashion and murilio was past his prime a freakin shadow of what he was, and was constantly depressed besides. imeasurable intelect does not garuntee infinite life, and when a god steps into out, like you saw people died almost randomly.

that fact that kruppe narates the story shows he was aware of everything, there was simply nothing that he could control in that chaos. well, besides foiling the most chaotic and unpredictable force in the entire world.

mark my words, kruppe is wise to everything happening and will have a hand in the final confrontation, whatever it proves to be. he's just so sly that we don't even know what he's up to.

It took me a long time to find the proper "voice" in my head for Kruppe. Then I imagined William F. Buckley Jr.'s voice, and the dialogue just seemed to flow.

I really loved Kruppe, such a loveable guy whom some people might find irritating. Reminded me a bit of Neelix from Voyager, who also had a lot of hidden depth to him even though people thought he's a bumbling idiot. Definitely one of the most memorable characters for me in the book.
