Question About the Azath possibly REALLY obvious and i'm dumb

I've been rereading several of the books, and thinking about Gothos' movement within the Azath. Is it possible that the Azath is singular and, Banyan tree like, has many trunks (houses)? The roots (a small warren) would explain travel between them and provide growth/energy to help a very young house capture the finnest in Darujhistan.
Admittedly, the Darujhistan House had a lot of outside help. If its been suggested before I'm sorry to duplicate effort.

Well, it was postulated and then proved as far back as DG that all the Azath are interconnected. So I guess depending on how you want to describe the Azath it could be as you say.

So, you're the historian who survived the Chain of Dogs.
Actually, I didn't.
It seems you stand alone.
It was ever thus.

Back in DG Gothos implies that the Azath can communicate, at least with him, which does suggest some level of sentience, either within the network or a given house.
In MT we saw an Azath House 'die'.
So while i tend to think of them as a sort of unversal immune system manifestation, the notion that they are a 'race' may not be that far off.

There was a crazily complicated (and slightly crazy too) theory about the azath houses pinning warrens in place amongst other things. Unfortunately I think it got eaten in one of the crashes or is lost somewhere in the murky depths of the forum. It was pretty cool though.
At this point noone really knows anything about them, but balancing power does seem to be their main function. I think it's in TtH that you learn a little bit more about them and how they are formed, but I can't be sure.

Hate to necro-quote, but, when we changed boards (and many threads were nuked prior, in order to try and get the board back up):
I mourn the loss of many, many games of mafia.
I'm kinda miffed that we lost a few good threads in the book forums, even the Inn.
I am absolutely FURIOUS that we, somehow, lost the collaborative effort of several people to create a definitive theory of the Warrens, the Azath and the Gods. It was in a random forum, sure. Hardly anyone had read it, true. But dammit it was the best thread on these things, and had the most awesome speculation that ACTUALLY MADE SENSE (for the most part).

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

I'm pretty sure that was the thread I was thinking of, I had a conversation with you about events in Toll. There was really crazy stuff about warrens wandering and azath falling on them and congealed dragon's blood having some role that made a lot sense, but I can't remember the details.

It probably was. There were a couple floating around in that forum, though - Website Mechanics, which wasn't really the right place for them, but it wasn't a problem until the damn thing got lost.

Just a couple of weeks/months ago, there was quite an intelligent post (the first post in the thread) that made some good points about (I think) Azath, Holds, Houses and the wandering of these things. It really opened my eyes, but I can't find it. Does anyone know what I mean?

And that's why I come here.
It's just amazing - my description of the post is not even close to what the post actually is about, but that's the one I was looking for. And you did in in 7 minutes. Thanks!

Having just finished BH, I'll post my thoughts on the Azath here. I believe as has been stated before they are a "force" (I think the chained dragons used the term "elemental")... I think they are the embodiment of the need for everything to possibly fall, to possibly "die". I come to this conclusion because they seem to sprout up in response to people that are powerful enough to escape death, or are pretty much immortal. The existence of the Azath re-introduce the element of "death" to these beings, keeping them from running amok/ in the system.
Now, my question would be if an Azath could absorb an elemental force....
