After this weekends upgrade, I have a few comments that I'd rather post here through thread-resurrection than open a new one. Apologies if this was not expected.

There are a few nasty thingies happening when using the quote function, at the least on Mafia alts - I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to what happens on my main.

Anyway, what I so far experienced on a Gaming Alt:
All kinds of <br> signs start appearing in the type window when quoting, making multi-quoting, snipping or underlining chaotic. Once posted, there is no trace of these things, so all in all, its a minor inconvenience.

A bit worse is that in a few of my posts, all Enters are removed, making every post appear as a wall of text without proper alineas unless you then edit the post to put stuff in order. It may be browser related, haven't tried it from anything but Chrome.

EDit: from my main, everything is cool, as you can see - no problem with the Enters here.

I just picked four random quotes to multiquote to see if I could make the problem re-appear - but it's fine here - and I use Chrome too.
I'll check out the settings for the game alts to ensure that they are the same and get back to you.

Edit : there is nothing different in the settings for the mafia alts than for regular members - are you using the same skin for both id's?

I use Grey on this alt, the mafia alt has the standard black + magenta thing.
in the current thread (mafia 55) there are several references, I think - allow me to dig a few up.

the Assassin is explicitly stated to be a one-man faction

we KNOW that the Assassin dead is part of the Bride's VC.

therefore, if we have someone we think may be scum, who's not defended by anyone, and someone who may be scum but has 1 or 2 people actively defending them, we go for the one being defended, since they are more likely to be linked to the Bride.

underlined bit in the final quotage had a hard enter there when it was written, i modified the other post. It's weird, cause on this alt, all's more than OK.

I also noticed that the font is (sometimes?) different when I edit a post.
They're not big issues, but enough to distract

Hmm.. that is very strange. I haven't noticed this occurring anywhere else.
I'm not sure now if it's a skin issue or not - I'll send a message to Theo and see if he can think of anything that may cause it.
Please could you or Path-Shaper do me a favour in the meanwhile - if any other mafia players are having similar problems could the send me a pm to let me know what skins they are using when the problem occurs, otherwise it's going to be pretty hard to nail it down.

Sorry to be so vague - I seem to recall having seen this problem before, but I can't for the life of me remember where now. I know it's a stupid thing to ask, but I'm also wondering if clearing the cache might help?

I switched skins twice on the alt, currently using the IP-board skin and I have the issue there, too. I didn't on the IP Board Lo-Fi skin.

Also, all the code-stuff shows up between <> instead of between the regular brackets [] (until I edit the post, then it shows up regularly) - I hope this helps.

Clearing the cache did nothing for me. Your request has been posted in not-to-be missed caps, so I expect at the least Olar Ethil to react

Can also say that I don't have the issue when I'm using Safari on the mafia alt, so it may be something in Chrome with a combination of a certain skin?

I've sent a message to Theo, who designed the skin, asking him to take a look at it - he may not get round to it for a few days though as he doesn't spend much time on here when not working on one of our projects. I'm just surprised that other members are not having this problem - others use multi quote and yet there's been nothing said. I'm going to blame Chrome currently until I find a more worthy substitute!

I can live with multiquote going wrong, but all my sentences getting connected into a wall of text is a bit bothersome

This issue has also been reported to IPB - it appears to be something that only admins/moderators have experienced - or previous admins. It may have something to do with the previous database (vB) - but we're working on it.

Edit to add : I've had a reply regarding this problem and it should be fine from now on.

I had something similar to this (and a few other problems) a month ago when I was modding a mafia game with Path-Shaper. Among the glitches I was getting were:

-Formatting (bold, underline, color-coding, font sizing) would vanish from posts after I editted other parts of them
-lots of spaces disappeared when I copy+pasted from quote boxes
-occasionally all the formatting and line-spacing in a post would turn into vast amounts of <br> and <font size=3> and such boxes, with no way of turning them back (this mostly happened in posts that had lots and lots of formatting)
-when I would try to format a bit of text by pressing a button like the Bold button, the cursor would jump to the top of the text box and the format would not apply

Not sure if any of those still occur but its also format-related and mod-related as we're currently seeing so I thought I'd toss that in.

hmmm... there is a character limit on the length of the messages that can be displayed ( not quite sure what it is ) if you want me to turn it back on I can do, but it might not make any difference. Let me know what you want me to do.

I say go for it. I was quite happy to have the rep messages in the profile, personally, but I'm just one, albeit incredibly fantastic, person and you have to cater for the whole forum.

I just tried to log on in chrome and it wont let me, it keeps saying that i havent filled in both fields. I never noticed this problem before as i usually use chrome for mafia.
Have checked on Opera and Firefox and i seem to be able to log in fine on both of those browsers so it seems to just be chrome at the moment.

Hmm.. I use Chrome all the time, so I would suggest you delete cookies and cache in your Chrome browser - it may be that it's stored the settings for the mafia alt and is confusing them somehow. If that doesn't fix the problem get back to me and I'll see if resetting your password helps.

I doubt its anything to do with my setting as i just cleared my comp. Hopefully it will fix itself again soon.
