I would just like to say the SE has written possibly the best entrace for any character I have read. Draconus's return sent shivers up my spine. I loved the description of the hills breaking, of all the soldiers of the Bargharst and Arkyans(spelling?) T-1000 freezing as if they had been sprayed by liquid nitrogen. The arrows cracking in mid-air and the imense pressure of the power at play.
"Returned to the world
Draconus"
What an ending of the section.
Although I was surprised at the description of his sword. It seems very Dragnipur like. Perhaps it was the original form of Dragnipur without the chaining? Seems to tie into the void that was at the side of Draconus in the prologue to Return of the Crimson Guard. Hmm.

Yeah about his sword, sort of like the black void from RCG taking a shape like a sword but with out the metal skin that was Dragnipur.
That entrance was, I agree, amazing. Kind of one upped Rake's arrival in the Warlords camp in MOI. All in all Draconus seems like the only being that people were more scared off than Rake.
Also, in the fourth book, I love who Draconus bumps into. Quite a pair.

Yeah. Considering the epicness of his arrival, though,

Apt, are you talking about the two Barghast he comes across when he's hanging with Ublala? They were quite a pair.
I agree with the epicness of the arrival though. The end of that chapter made me think of the Kallor bit in TTH. Pure awesome.
I don't think the sword was anything like Dragnipur. Just a weapon he magics into existence using the power of all that Barghast and Akryn blood.

Though Rakes entrance into dragnipur in TTH is, for me, the best entrance so far. Or perhaps Hoods.
I agree with the scaredness thing aswell. Both of them are obviously powerful enough so it's not about who'd fuck you up more. I think it's just down to the fact that Rake was seen as being at least reasonable-you'd have to actually do something for him to fuck you up. Whereas Draconus seems to be seen as more wanton, cruel or judgemental-he'd go for people for less reason than Rake.
Though Draconus does say to Paran he's less cruel than he once was(I believe, might be mentioned somewhere else) and he seems more compassionate judging by what we see in dragnipur(his thoughts towards Rake-he forgives the person who condemns him to dragnipur). On the other hand, he did expect that no one could stop the chaos-now that he's out of the sword he might have changed again-now he can actually affect the world.

Draconus: "HAY GUYS WHATS GOING ON?"
Barghast and Akrynnai: "Nothing much, we're just chilling."
Draconus: "Cool, cool. Glad you're having such a cracking time! HAHA! I kill me. By which I mean you."

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

YES. This entrance was awesome. Though not as awesome to my mind as Rake's various appearances. It's certainly one thing to up Rake's prestige, though. All the people going "Oh FUCK, Draconus is back! O.o". And then they're like..."Oh FUCKFUCKFUCK, that means RAKE is DEAD - the ONE GUY who KILLED DRACONUS." XD
Damn brilliant.
I admit, my first thought about Drac's weapon was - the hell? He making another Dragnipur? But I also think, now, that it was just him magicking a weapon into existence from all the deaths. Neat sword, dude. XD
The other thing was Draconus' mien. He's a bit 'chill', and friendly...but I just get this impression of him thinking, behind all that: "You are all going to die. So let us share this meal, these good times...enjoy them, even...but I herald the end of your world."
GAH. SOOOO MUCH WIN.

Agreed on all fronts. I wonder if that massive freeze-storm thing happens every time Drac walks thru warrens to somewhere...
The weapon was some sort of manifestation we saw in RCG. It's related to what eventually became Dragnipur but it isn't the same thing.
Interesting tho, how Drac almost seemed under-powered in Dragnipur but then warps back into the world full of beans. Tho Mommy d's return may have had something to do with that.
Also interesting was the scene where Quick is communicating with Drac and Aracict opens the wards to him and he doesn't take advantage of the situation. Whatever game Drac is playing now, it will be interesting.
Pairing him with Ublala was SO so perfect. everyone else is freaking out and here's Ublala wondering if he'll get laid...
- Abyss, undersatnds the priorities but still...
