I have this hornet nest on the side of my house underneath the doorstep of the people who live upstairs from me. I want to be rid of the damn things because I believe strongly that they are the most irritating member of the entire animal kingdom.

The best way I've found to dispose of em is the hornet/wasp RAID insecticide spray that you can pelt them with from 10 feet away. It works exceedingly well actually. Problem is, the girls that live upstairs from me are hippies and are all anti-pesticides.

For fuck's sake.

Is there a eco-friendly method that ACTUALLY WORKS or is my best bet to use the insecticide when they aren't looking. The bastards are getting into the wall now and carrying out little bundles of fiberglass insulation so they can expand their nest. Their presence was bad enough, but now they're reducing my R-value?!?! fuck them.

Tell the hippie girls that the natural world loses the right to live when it personally inconveniences you, then pesticide the fuck out of them. Oh, and also the hornets.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Befriend the Hornets, after you have gained their trust introduce them to Goodkind, they will kill themselves.

To be fair, nerve gassing the poor fuckers would be more humane.

Why exactly are the hippies even part of the decision making process here? I'm trying to understand.

Just spray the bastards and if they complain, well it's too late anyway.
Or you could set them on fire. Natural and it gets rid of your hippie infestation as well.

Grab the hippies by the hair, drag their faces through the nest, and watch the action unfold. They'll be begging for the spray in 0.2335672 seconds flat. Then they'll be so fucked up by the hornets that the only humane thing to do would be to go at them with a shovel.

Win-win...win.

I knew the inevitable "kill the hippies" comments were coming.

I was just looking up some eco friendly wasp killing methods (oxymoron). They pretty much all consist of:

a) soapy water
B ) wasp traps

I've tried the wasp traps and they don't work for shit. All it takes is one to escape and he chemically flags the thing somehow and the other hornets won't go near it after that.

Soapy water seems like a good idea, but I've used it on bugs before and it doesn't seem to kill them too quick. It would suck to douse the nest and still have a few minutes of life left in the insects.

Looks like I'll probably go with the poison after seeing the alternatives. I soaks into stuff, kills on contact and the fumes kill stuff too, so they're pretty much toast in their little hidey hole. It said it even gets bees that return to the nest after the initial assault. Hippies be damned, it might be under their part of the porch but I'm tired of swatting the blasted things out of my face when I'm barbecuing.

Soap and water works well on hippies, too...
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I had wasps in the wall of my room as a kid. Get rid of the bastards asap. They can actually do serious damage to the structural integrity of the building if you're not careful. You should be able to get the local council to do something about it, don't they qualify as pests? Fumigate the hell out of 'em.

The white powder(I think Raid do one) sprayed at the entrance........wapsies track it in and it kills the queen. Job Done usually within 2 days. In Britland local Councils will do it for free.

So is that just proof that Brits need the government to take care of their domiciles for them?

Yanks make it so easy to hate them!

Can't you smoke out bees and stuff? Alternatively, get naked and smash up their nest with a stick.

And Brits should realize that the 'old fashioned way' isn't always the best!

I thought you were supposed to smear honey on yourself for protection when using a stick?

I thought you were supposed to have a bear along to stop the wasps eating the honey?

Good Advice.

So CF:

Get naked.
Oogle Wife.
Smear Self in Honey.
Oogle Wife again.
Rent Bear.
Ride Bear while beating wasp hive with stick.

I don't see a downside.

I can't burn them because they're in the wall of my house

otherwise I would. Gasoline + fire takes care of hornet nests like nothing i've ever seen.

Probly going to go with the 10ft projectile pesticide stuff. They're in the wall real good now (carrying out insulation and stuff) so if I don't do it soon their nest will be too deeply recessed in the wall to take out.

EDIT

Or maybe just the bear method.

The hippies would like it. Nothing in that removal method is not-from-nature.

Afterwords you could feed the hippies to bear while yelling 'HOW DO YOU LIKE NATURE NOW?'.
