well I did it.

Hippies be damned. Hornets start ruining my R-value and its officially personal.

Got em with about 2/3 of a giant can of distance-spray at about 11:00 at night and not a single one of the bastards made it out alive.

There were 2 or 3 buzzing around it but none would go near the actual entrance the next day so I doused them again last night.

Sucks breathing that stuff in...burns yer nose. Apparently its the volatile part (gas) that does most of the killing though, so a thorough dousing near the hive entrance pretty much takes care of em.

Had a wonderful hornet-free mojito party on the deck last night with the hippy neighbors. They didn't seem too upset about the pesticide at that point. I guess pesticides trump having an aggressive biting insect nest at ankle-level for them. That's the problem with hippies, they're all fake and have limits to their environmentalism....its just a matter of finding it.

no pics,

but they would be extremely boring. Me standing about 4 feet from a hole in the side of my house, emptying an aerosol can. No wasps coming out, no stings, not even any hilarious anti-sting gear. Just me spraying aerosol on my porch.

Still no sign of the fuckers, gave em a second dose just to be sure.

hippies are pleased to no longer be stung about the birkenstocks.
