PS Publishing have just announced that there will be a new SE novella

Quote

Also just in is a first draft of the first hundred typed pages of Steven Erikson's brand new Bauchelain and Korbal Broach novella, Crack'd Pot Trail. Believe me when I tell you that this one is absolutely awesome. Again, we'll have ordering details posted up on the site as soon as possible.

Judging from past form this will probably be published towards the end of the year... hopefully it will be out before Christmas. Really looking forward to this one.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

In that case I demand quote tags to reduce my paranoia :D

I wish I'd already read it, sadly that is just a quote from the publisher.

Yes but that post took 4 minutes longer to be posted... you were clearly being selfish editing the post to your exacting standards rather than letting people know as soon as possible.

And I managed a little giggle about a soap-box. It's the top stuff kids, patience has its own reward.

Someone should really ask Erikson when he found the time to write this one.

Between Dust of Dreams delays and the travel in Mongolia I wouldn't have expected that he wrote a novella.

Based on the publisher quote, I don't think it's finished yet: a first draft of the first hundred typed pages.

But yeah, he's a writin' machine!

I'm pretty sure SE said somewhere that the novellas took him 7-10 days each to write, so it's not unthinkable he found the time.

But yeah, can't wait for this one!

I will. Best characters ever.

Does anyone "in the know" know chronologically where Crack'd Pot Trail will fall? Blood Follows and Lees of Laugher's End are sequential, but then Healthy Dead occurrs about 4 years afterwards.

Wut? Wrong order of release, but chronologically correct: Blood Follows (released 2002) is where 'Mancy first enters B&KB's employ in Lamentable Moll. Lees of Laughter's End (released 2007) takes place entirely on the Suncurl, the ship they left Lamentable Moll aboard. The Healthy Dead (released 2004) takes place in the city of Quaint after 'Mancy has been with B&KB for 4 years.

The B&KB novellas are great. They're really subversive in a good way. I would be really interested in seeing more of his painting. Somehow that seems more akin to the B&KB stories than the novels (though it shines through more in the later ones).

From the PSPublishing newsletter.

Another one to watch out for! Steven Erikson has now handed in Crack'd Pot Trail, his new novella (50,000 words!!) featuring that loveable duo, Bauchelain and Korbal Broach. The catalogue pages are now up for pre-orders, so check 'em out:

300 traycased, signed and jacketed hardcovers with colour plates - £50 [$80 approx.]
700 unjacketed and unsigned hardcovers - £15 [$24 approx.]

Like all of Steven Erikson's stuff, these are going to sell like hot cakes - so order now to avoid disappointment!
