It's really nice to see that he cares enough to send that email along.

Hope you have a great five weeks!

Cheers, Steve. Just don't give in to temptation and invade China while you're there.

Erikson would never do that, invading China would be one of the classical blunders.

Along with never going in against a Tiste Simeon when death is on the line.

As far as I am concerned, he is invading China. By his mere presence. :(

As a writer, Erikson's improved by leaps and bounds. That improvement is a reflection of some very hard work and interesting life experiences he's gone through.

Hopefully, he'll have a blast in the Mongolian steppe/desert and return rejuvenated and with added perspective on things. If he can, I suggest going to see Mongolian wrestling tournaments.

Seriously, can't wait to see how it ends, for me TTH is tied with MoI for best of the series (yeah, I like the Darujistan crowd) Can't wait for DoD, keep up the good work!

Didn't SE say at some point that the Thelomen/Toblakai had features like Mongolians/Huns, just a lot bigger?? Clearly he is secretly going to get some psycho-vibes for the return of Bellurdan in tCG! (Or, you know, the Toblakai trilogy)

Malazan stuff aside, what exactly is the site in Mongolia? I know that in one of the "istan"s they found a site that may have been the inspiration for the Amazons.

'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

Anyone who thinks TTH was a let-down needs a f*cking slap. With a dead herring mutated far beyond its normal size.
Spoiler
. Not to mention the fact it was bloody amazing. And I have two signed copies, one being the tour copy, mwahahahaha!!!

*possessive*

Can't wait for DoD, and hopefully some promotional book signings and the like. I think the Mongolia thing only bodes well for the final installment, we've seen how rich and varied the multitude of different cultural groups are in the series and how much texture and quality that adds to the books, and this obviously can only come from an author's knowledge and experiences. So Steve spending plenty of time out there and picking up a real feel for some more cultural stuff at the same time will just add another bit of something to the books.

I hope your vacation is everything you hope for and more, Mr. Erikson. I have already pre-ordered Dust of Dreams and await it with delight.

I know you will write whatever you envision, and I have heard it said in these forums that these characters will not be seen again the Book Of The Fallen, but I would love to see Bauchelain and Korbal Broach (and 'Mancy, of course) at least make an appearance in the final book.

Yes, I know there are more novellas planned. Its to tide us over until then :killingme:

"Mule

To see a mule in your dream, represents your stubbornness and unyielding personality. You are overbearing, rebellious and unwilling to cooperate with others. The mule also symbolize menial work. You may be feeling overburdened or stressed. If the mule is dead, then it denotes that your party hearty attitude will lead to unrestrained immorality. It is also an indication of your long sufferings.

To dream that you are riding a mule, denotes that you are undertaking responsibilities that will give you a lot of anxiety.

To dream that you fall off or are thrown from a mule signifies disharmony in love which will lead to a separation.

To dream that you are kicked by a mule, suggests that you are involved in illicit activities, which will bring your much anxiety and fear that you will be caught."

Enjoy the well deserved break Steve. How anyone can consider working on a dig for 5 weeks is a holiday, I'll never know.

Unfortunately things didn't work out too well - a nasty intestinal problem followed by a poisonous insect bite has forced our favourite author to return to the bosom of his family

Intestinal problem?! Sounds like he's got a case of the D'reks!

Get well soon Steve! Fire is the answer to all intestinal problems!

Oh well. The saddest news.

He couldn't even have his "vacation" properly. It was a good plan.

One wonders if it was the lady's pull or the lord's push.
