Heh, Ment is a mafia mod, I forgot that.
And it's possible they would tell us, there was supposed to be enough info given for the game to be playable without reading the books.
But Lish said that too. *glares angrily at whichever alt the bastard is hiding behind*

The game started at 4am for me; it's 8 am now haha. So I agree, Liosan. WHat I said above was that apparently we will be given all the information needed to play the game without reading the books, so it probably isn't book related, and thus, it also probably won't be a secret system only a few members know about.

Okay... I kind of get what you are saying here.
The "spy" and "steal" are very much so Locke Lamora concepts, seeing as how the book is about a thief and people trying to catch him (and other things).
The second part though... you talked about a "points system" and that is something that I've only read in Heroes... and it was pretty explicitly spelled out. That's where my confusion lays.

Well, I assumed steal would involve stealing something, and as I don't know what could be stolen in a game like this, I thought perhaps a points system would be in place for certain characters.

Odds are Faction Lamora has "steal" capabilities. The Spider Faction has "spy" capabilities. The Grey King and Barsavi Factions have "Kill" capabilities. That is book related, and obviously finders, healers, guards are spread about.
Points system for some of those is too complex for me to attempt to digest in this state.

Hmmm, my book-lore is a little lacking with regards to this series... Any ideas about the make-up of the factions, going by the list of roles we have?

You should read the series. The two published books are very entertaining.
Grey King + Falconer
Barsavi's all together
Locke Lamora + Jean Tannen
I can't remember the names of the ones with the Spider. Her storyline is the haziest for me, other than the truce between Barsavi and her, and the fact that she wants Lamora for breaking it.
Those are the ones I know off the top of the head. It's been probably a year and a half since I read Lies.

Hmmmm, interesting. I'll have to pick up a copy of the book today, then.
I wonder if every faction is more or less equal in size.

Pick it up. The first book is especially a fun read. Fast, as well.
And, I'd note that 4 does not go evenly into 18, so odds are 5, 5, 4, 4.

Well, that will no doubt help with this then, as I have nothing to do today haha.

If we assume 5 and 5, and by your guesses earlier, I would assume that it would be the Spider team and Gentlemen Bastards that have the most members, being the less killing/power oriented team, right?

I don't know. We have 4 named Barsavi's. I do remember that there were 4 Gentleman Bastards. Locke, Tannen, and two twin brothers (the Sanza's I believe (hooray memory)). Two of the sisters were with the Grey King and the Falconer so that's 4... so it actually could be 4, 4, 4, 6. My lack of memory on The Spider side hurts somewhat. Odds are that the guy with one name is tied to her... either as her spy captain or the duke/prince/whatever is in charge of Camorr. I can't remember.

Twin brothers and twin (from summary I found online on some forum, can you confirm?) sisters... Hmmm. Sounds like pairings. And by the look of the Barsavis, there'd be pairings there too; the same summary I read saying three of them are brothers and sister.

Yeah, they were twin sisters as well on the Grey King's side. The Barsavi's are the crime family in charge, with the boss, the heir apparent, a daughter who is friends with Lamora, and I'm not sure about the other one. Perhaps another brother. When you read the book you'll know why some of this is easily recalled and some of it is very much so murky for me.

I also note that Bug is listed twice by Path Shaper. Either an error or multiple Bugs. Seeing as how, if I remember correctly, he is Faction GB, that could increase that group to 6 if it's a double.
