ok I done some sketches a while back and I have no idea which one of them I'd like to start and when I try to start one of them I always bugger it up right from the start (said start too many times) anyway I decided 'bugger it!!!!' you guys know what you want to see in a picture and are a lot more accurate to the books than I am, so here are the sketches what I want to know is which one to do and what you want to see in the picture

They're all great!

Apsalar's shoulders are a bit big though...almost makes her look like a hunchback.

Crokus is good-reminds me of when you did the character profiles. Like the way he's positioned-looks pretty cool.

Trull and Onrack's my fave-Onrack looks damn scary!

DG is terrific-but whose in the pic?

yeah you're right Its supposed like shes running hunched over but I think I need to lower the upper torso to make that more visible

you picked up on my favorite part about the picture and the reason why I haven't burned any evidence of this pic existence, I cant seem to find a way to fit that pose/angle into a good picture, I'm more that open to suggestion

I was thinking about putting a warren in the background for this one but it looked very uninteresting and the placement of it was a bitch, ideas?

that would be Baudin, Heboric and Felisin looking like the desert is kicking the shit out of them

-apsalar's shoudlers do look a tad wierd, too big for her frame
-crokus is spot on, this strikes me as pre-cutter yes??
-Trull and Onrack just amazing, very menacing and cool. didn't feel the need for a warren and it wouldn't really fit neither could actually access one...
-The desert trio is cool, I imagined Baudin a bit different than this -bulkier, and with hair- and had a bit of trouble finding out that it was heboric in the corner -but thats only coz its a sketch I guess-

but with color all those would be Awesomeee...
If it were to me , I would start with Trull/Onrack

Hmm. Instead of a warren, Apsalar could be leaving a corridor of EXTREMELY recently deceased Claw. Slight sword placement change, blood splatter, dudes going URK and falling over, it'd look good.

Yeah I'm not sure about Apsalar's anatomy... shoulders are too bulky, waist is a bit too slim. Other than that, excellent stuff. I love the Trull and Onrack one

Loved all of them, i also would have left a trail of dead claw in the background of not-apsalar, or maybe an astonished Shadowthrone.
Maybe i'm a little greedy, but i would love to see your rendition of the Trull vs Icarium scene.

i thought that maybe Trull looked a little too pissed off? But only my humble opinion. Why don't you finish all 3 and keep us all happy? haha.

The Apsalar picture is a great start. I think the shoulder problem is only for her left. Her right one is perfect. I do think the knives are slightly off and should be tilted a little more towards the viewer - as I think an assassin would likely not run with both knives pointed almost directly at her stomach (fists should be tilted a little more outwards).

Onrack's sword handle might be a little too small. Amazing picture. Trull should be a lot taller than Onrack though - he's Edur.

I like your depiction of Heboric. It makes a lot more sense for the inherent distrust from everyone else if he looks like that.

I think Illy's idea has a bit of promise. I like the idea of her carving through a wall of Claw flesh, arterial spray and Curdle and Telorast capering and laughing at her feet. Maybe she should be looking at the viewer, and the look should be completley Cotillion. Stone cold Killer with perhaps a slight smile.

Or you could just finish them all,

Apsalar coming out of a corridor full of fallen claw is an interesting idea... or how about a corridor full of sliced and kicked-through-wall Hounds of Shadow?!

I think Trull and Onrack in those positions and wariness would look good if they were emerging back into 7C after their long time spent in the Nascent in early HoC. Trull would be pissed cause his hand is bleeding, and they're wary of craziness about to occur but also a bit happy to be out of the Nascent and away from the other T'lan and Tiste Liosan.

My personal preference would be for either the Trull+Onrack one or the DG one first (especially if the DG one could have Dosin Pali burning in the background!).

Love trulls and onracks facial expressions. heborics is awesome aswell.
He looks really overwhelmed, almost like his muttering to himself

for the overall choice to colour I'd go with not-apsalar flavoured with claw dead around her, also if possible
more shadow dancish if you wiil. not certain how though. maybe something in the eyes?

the shoulders arent that much of an issue to me. I just see it as armoured padding but
hunching the torso down like you suggested should fix that, maybe sloping the shoulders more
aswell will help make her seem a bit more dynamic

- it's all part of the sketchin' process it's hardly ever right straight off the bat
-yep hes pre cutter, still the feisty little scamp leggin' it over roofs and whatnot
-yet there they're in and out of them like a epileptic yo-yo
-aye! color and levels of detail set the distance of the picture for the most part so when every thing is the same shade and detail the pic gets hard to read, stuff that gets sorted out when you take it into photoshop, as for baudin they're at a pretty rough point in the journey at this point and even though I (as you do) imagine him bigger I think through the constant traveling and lack of food he would have lost some mass also I never thought of him with hair, a hairy fella but bald, am I right ? I have no idea

AHA death carnage people slipping on their own entrails I like it, also I drew the picture with the idea of her being on a roof or something but a corridor or archway would really suit the composition so much better

I think a lot of the bulk was supposed to be her cloak, maybe it was to hide a disfiguring hunch that mr erikson forgot to tell us about and that two for the trull+onrack pic

-I always have trouble with action poses of trull because I can never pin down what his spear fighting would look like, the easy option would be to say that elf fella off hellboy 2 has got it down but its still too martial artsy and not brutal enough to what I imagine it to look like, I'll get it nailed one day though
-aye being chained to a bunch of rocks will do that to you HA! seriously though he does look too pissed off but I don't think he should look happy either

-sure why not! I didn't have any time line in mind when I was drawing the picture and I got huge gaps in my memory about their thread of story so any elaboration would be helpful
-I'm thinkin' the trull+onrack pic is very much on the cards

cheeeeeers dudes that's a lot of things sorted about the pic that I wouldn't have thought of, anyhow Trull+Onrack it is (though there's too many good ideas for the apsalar on to put it aside for very long) if anyone has any info on what they would like to see in the background, characters clothes/armour, mood, whether or not to do it anthpor...anthropathmo...anth....with dogs head on? I all ears (or eyes as the case may be)

Yeah pics are great! Enjoy Crokus and Apsalar... agree about the shoulders... but that was just because you were trying to make her mean looking... like she's about to engage in a battle. But it's one of the best ones Ive seen of here - i dont think the characters shoukld be glamorised to much (and you havent done that) but Ive seen some art work that just looks to smooth. Steven Erikson writing is to some extend uncommercial... dense, complicated rugged and I think the characters should come across that way... almost unflattering.

I always pictured apsalar as desperate, bi-polar (as her memories suggest) a little unstable, waif like and then she swings into her other dark side
