Cool. The season starts on Sept 10. If we could wait till a little closer to then it would probably be better.
I'd hate to pick a player and have him blow out his knee during OTA's.
I had that happen to me one year. I lost the first 4 picks to injuries before the season even began. It sucked... I think that actually it would go pretty fast. It would probably be over in a week tops. So we could start it in the middle of Aug.
Having done 15 or 20 drafts this way, I think it is best. But, it will take far more than a week. Usually you start when training camp starts. If a player is injured, that has already been drafted, the person who drafted him can have the pick
after the current pick.
Time for each pick is 24 hours, after that time, it's the best available player that is automatically selected by the commissioner.
The injured player rule is optional, but it seems fair to me.
Draft order is done like this:
Commissioner orders the people in any way that he wants, 1 thru 12
but does not show anyone, then
any other player gives the numbers in an also random order.
like this:
Commish's order:
1 player d
2 player c
3 player e
4 player a
5 player b
Random player picks the numbers 3,5,1,4,2
so draft order is:
1. player e
2. player b
3. player d
4. player a
5. player c
This makes it far more random than just doing it once, it's like shuffling the deck twice.
