All part of the fun. ;)

No, you're right ofc, I just figured it would take us at least a few weeks to figure out a date for a draft, but if everyone's up for this option then it solves a problem - realistically we could probably do at least a round a day with our timezones, so it wouldnt take all that long. I'd say we do it before the pre-season games though.

Cool. The season starts on Sept 10. If we could wait till a little closer to then it would probably be better.

I'd hate to pick a player and have him blow out his knee during OTA's.

I had that happen to me one year. I lost the first 4 picks to injuries before the season even began. It sucked... I think that actually it would go pretty fast. It would probably be over in a week tops. So we could start it in the middle of Aug.

Having done 15 or 20 drafts this way, I think it is best. But, it will take far more than a week. Usually you start when training camp starts. If a player is injured, that has already been drafted, the person who drafted him can have the pick after the current pick.

Time for each pick is 24 hours, after that time, it's the best available player that is automatically selected by the commissioner.

The injured player rule is optional, but it seems fair to me.

Draft order is done like this:

Commissioner orders the people in any way that he wants, 1 thru 12 but does not show anyone, then any other player gives the numbers in an also random order.

like this:

Commish's order:

1 player d
2 player c
3 player e
4 player a
5 player b

Random player picks the numbers 3,5,1,4,2

so draft order is:

1. player e
2. player b
3. player d
4. player a
5. player c

This makes it far more random than just doing it once, it's like shuffling the deck twice.

I like Slow Ben`s suggestion.

It will make it alot less confusing for newbie fantasy player like me to get started...i think.

The only thing i disagree with is the injuries.

If you draft a player and he gets injured. Your just f'ed. Thats part of the game.

Plus it would get too confusing trying to decide whats worth a new pick. Out two weeks? A month?

Its just my 2 cents but i say draft and stay with it.

Now, of course, everyone on my team will be hurt by week 1....

I like this idea for the draft format. I am going to agree with SB on the injury front. In any of the previous fabntasy football leagues I've been a part of there is no allowance for injuries. You have what you initially pick and that is it, whatever may happen to the player. Personally I would prefer to stick with that rule.

I also disagree with the injuries... That is why your suppose to hold drafts as close to the start of the season as possible. If you draft a player who gets injured then you have to work the free agent wires with everyone else. I ended up making 65 moves that season and came in third. Which was really good considering I lost my QB one of my running backs and 2 of my WRs.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

We are going to have free agent wires right. I have never been in a league were we didn't. In my Yahoo league we have it were the person who has the 12th pick is the number one person on the waiver wire. Of course when a player goes off waivers and becomes a free agent then it is whom ever can get to him first.

Also how many Running back are we going to be playing, and how many WRs. In my yahoo league we use 1 Qb, 2 RB, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 kicker, and a defense.

There were a total of 15 spots on the roster; 9 active and 6 reserve

if a player gets injured tough luck imo. thats how ive always done it, go get some free agents.

Damn, we actually have to draft our own in order to get a good squad. What a pain in the arse. I would rather the computer just do it - that way I don't have to research linemen and shit. I guess, what ever you guys want...

Don't be surprised if I disappear in mid-September when the papers/projects come a callin'!

Basically just research Running Backs, the best few QBs, and the best recievers, and you'll be fine.

Honestly, I only had one league that did the injuries that way. I thought maybe at the end of the round would be better myself.

As far as the injured player, he becomes a free agent again, so you could draft him if you wanted to.

What do I draft, then? I've never played this game before... Some preliminary instructions would be appreciated!

Does defense count for nothing?

You pick one team defense and you get points for how that defense performs that week.

Other than that you have a qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, te, k and a D. Then you have about 6 players on your bench for bye weeks, injuries and such.

Scoring system is usually 6pts for a rushing TD, 1 pt per 10 yds receiving or rushing, 1 pt per 25 yds passing, 1 pt per XP kicked, etc etc. All the basic rules can be found on www.nfl.com/fantasy, I'll have a look and try and copy/paste all the fundamentals people require.

OK, I guess I can manage picking out offense and defense, if I don't have to research too much. :p

I give my assent to the draft idea.
