Working with a hangover Another poor life choice

As much as it bothers me, I have to agree with Apt on this. When I drink it's ON! It's like a switch. Once it's on, I commit to the drinking under the slogan "No tomorrow!". And while I hate myself for what I've done to my body the next morning, the drinking part itself usually is insanely much fun.
I realize this is straight out of the textbook for raging alcoholics, but what the hell, right? I have to admit though, that I try to keep drinking occasions to a minimum during the week. My hangovers have become really terrible over the past five years or so. One of the downsides of growing older.
Ganymed - next saturday it's ON again!

You don't just guzzle it straight do you? You at least sip it or put something in it, right? Because otherwise you're a picture that horrifies apt.

I drink a lot of beer and shots. I do not gulp down large amounts of undiluted liquer. Bad things happen when I do that, black outs, travelling through space and time, fist fights with shrubbery, projectile vomitting, making out with Hogbeasts, just to name a few...
If I drink a hell of a lot of alcohol in a jiffy I'll get a black out that can last for who knows how long, but even weirder I've sometimes noticed that my brain enters into some kind of sleep state and dream and reality gets jumbled. I once thought I was in a zombie apocalypse in the middle of a town square, that was freaking weird. My friend couldn't understand why I refused to speak with his friends...

I've gone the distance of the "once you're tipsy, you keep drinking" several times in my life--not really because of obligation, but mostly because at that point I simply stopped feeling effect of additional alcohol.
That is, untill I reached my "critical point"
last time that happened was on New Years. I felt like total crap the rest of the night and the entire day after.
Since then, I haven't gotten v"very drunk" once. Not because I've consciously decided not to, simplybecause i don't drink much--never have, even in Uni, and everytime I have drunk since, inever felt I really wanted to get completely wasted. Dunno, that's just me though.

I take it back Mental there is know way your a commie....Ever single Commie that I knew was drunk more often then not. It was how they made it through the day...Of course all of the Commies were either Hungarians or Pols, or Russians (I don't bother distinguishing between Ukrainians and Russians....Horrible I know). So that might have had something to do with it.

I am usually fine until I start to mix different types of Alcohol together. Like take the last time I went out I had several beer no problem was feeling good. Decided on a Scotch (peer pressure) WAS really feeling fine. Woke up the next morning and felt like I had been kicked in the head several times by all of the Soccer players in the world twice.... In my younger days I was a bartender at night and worked a day job in a trading pit. Ever single day I would go to work either drunk or hung over. It was rarely a problem....Sniff....Getting old Sucks....
-Vengeance doesn't have a drinking problem he has an empty bottle problem....Now please remove it and get me a full one...

How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

I used to get completely smashed back in the day. I won't say it was on purpose, but I knew the consequences of what I was doing. These days if I get smashed enough to be useless for a days work, it is usually by accident (not keeping track of my drinks or drinking on an empty stomach). I rarely work with a hangover because I have the kind of job where I can wake up and decide against going in

I used to do the "let's have a pint or two after work" thing with one of my mates from work; which often had the nasty habit of turning into the "let's go out all night in the middle of the week, get completely trashed and turn up late for work the next day, woozy and with beer leaking out our every pore" thing. It's not really advisable.
Arguably, the only reason I don't do it any more is that I don't work with him any more. Self control and being a sensible adult has nothing to do with it, unfortunately...

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. I didn't drink to get drunk that night. But a long day working in the sun had knocked me for a loop. Add in the beer and I was a smiley bastard in no time flat.

man, what are these places in the world where people aren't drunk as hell every thursday, friday and saturday night.
Must be that Atlantic Canada gives me a skewed impression of what is considered "responsible consumption of alcohol".
People around here really don't bother with the "responsible" bit, instead opting for the "consumption of alcohol" part. As do I. I am a product of my environment I guess.

Never worked hungover before, but I've definitely gone to school with a hangover, and played footy with one. Never fun. Probably shouldn't go out so many Thursday nights, but I've got some good memories out of it, and that outweighs the hangovers.

Thursday night drinking hurts, and often means you don't sober up until noon the next day. Still hilariously fun though.

But it's true, we don't really have the whole "responsible" drinking thing going on. The only reason most people won't drink is because they're either broke or have something important to do the next day.
