Chris Hemsworth is Thor

Captain kirks father has just been cast to play Thor.
He beat out the physical manifestation of THOR in Alexander Skarsgard, who has had a very large and vocal fan community heralding him as the God of Thunder

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? I've never seen Skarsgard act (Atleast I don't think so) but he fits the part aesthetically MUCH MUCH better.
I still heart Goodkind.

So, I'm guessing he's Thor but not complaining?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Has he been cast to play Thor or just the doctor Cripple alter ego? Thor needs to be HUGE. Not small and adorable.

Never mind the mythology....

Quote

Thor mopes on Mt. Olympus. Zeus asks him why he looks so depressed. Thor says that he misses the companionship and love of a woman. Zeus tells Thor that he will fix the problem by sending Thor down to Earth.

Thor lands in the backyard of a single woman. The two immediately start making love and continue all weekend.

After the weekend Thor is back at Mt. Olympus with a big grin on his face. Zeus asks Thor the great woman's name, but Thor admits that he never asked.

Horrified at his rudeness, Zeus sends Thor back down to find out the woman's name. Arriving in the same backyard, Thor calls out to the woman, "I wanted to tell you I'm Thor."

She yells, "You're thor? I'm tho thor I can hardly pith or thpit!"

BOOM BOOM!! Where's that fox....

Who, Megan Fox?

If he uses the 300-workout, he could do it.

He needs to put on some weight though.

And HEIGHT! Bah! Thor is a God of Thunder and Beer Drinking. He needs to not be a small Hollywood babyface. Put some facial hair and long blond hair on the guy.

Hmm. Seeing as they seem to be basing the new Marvel films on the Ultimate stories, I guess its going to be about Thor being sent to earth inhabiting the body of a mentally ill physician and his job is to save the world from its greed and and wars. That the Ultimates angle anyway.

Loki is of course the obvious opponent, but it makes room for Loki using all kinds of awesome pawns against Thor.

HAHA, I'm almost pleased Alex managed to escape the lunacy. :) He would have been perfect as Thor (he's tall, strong, has manly looks, and he can roar - what moar do you need? Also he can drink beer like a Thor irl, not just act it.) but maybe his acting skills simply were too good for the role. Either way, they're idiots they didn't cast him for it, but I think he'll come out the winner, since the movie most likely will be crap anyway. :D

You cannot be a winner if you miss out on a 5 million dollar pay check for the lead role in a hollywood blockbuster.

THis movie is a bad idea anyway. Thor is too overpowered to make a decent movie about. They'll have to come up with some contrived way to limit his powers, and then what's the point of even making a Thor movie?

A movie can wreck your career and that would make you miss out on more pay checks in the future. Besides, there are more rewards than instant money. And then there's the pride of the craft, which you obviously didn't count. :)

i'd say that just by being named alexander skarsgard he is more qualified for the role

Well, if I earned +5 million dollars I would simply quit the business and retire so I don't know about that :D

But the Actor that plays Thor is pretty much guarantied a spot in one or more Avengers films plus a cameo or two in other Marvel FIlms being made. Call it an investment.

Have faith in marvel guys...this isnt FOX we are talking about here.
Favreau is also going to be a producer on all the tie in avenger movies to keep the tone right and what not.

if he was ten years younger,

i would have rooted for Vladimir Kulich (buliwyf in 13th warrior)

as it is though,

we're getting an aussie playing the role.

ah well.

logically i'd think the best way to do it would be to have Loki as the bad guy,
and finish the movie with Thor's powers being limited somehow,
otherwise, as mentioned,
he'd just overpower everyone.

He's like Marvel's superman.
well, him and the Sentry.

yeah Apt, how is Cougar supposed to remember the words Valhalla and Odin?

be reasonable.......

version of that joke that I heard involved Thor having sex with her for five days straight without stopping,
and being sent back to apologise as mortal women aren't used to immortal stamina.

Hey, after Spidey 3 I am not having faith in them in a million years.

@ Apt, it's when you make movies only for the money that you know for sure that you suck as an actor. Period.
