I will hopefully have time for mafiaz and other involving stuff like this again sometime during early December when I get a different internet provider and sort out other computer issues. So probably out for the first round unless the game only starts then.

I don't know hardly anything about this.....

Well, I think we all know what skin you're using, lol. Or, at least, the mafia players might...

Also, hehe. Hehehehhe. Tropes link. Wikipedia link.

Don't stress yourself too much about it, though. Settings are always going to be hard to pick (in order to set everyone on even footing), and most things that aren't Malazan I could do are liable to have newbies too. I will be posting a crash-course in W40k 'essentials' however.

Alternatively, we could do an entirely made up setting, but that leaves us without solid reference points for what things we can have, and what the world consists of, and I don't think that's manageable for a first time game. :p

@Stalker - well, it's a bit late in the year for my tastes, but we'll see what happens with sign-ups and other people's time frames. Also, I've left provision for new members part-way through, so you can always jump in that way. :)

EDIT: @alt - see the above @Stalker. Also, you're SA, right? What GMT+X is that? And good luck on the computer issues, too. ^^

Fuck. Yeah. :p

I'm GMT+9.5 until the end of the month, and then I'll be GMT+10. Should have most evenings free, but during early Dec I will be packing and driving to Brisvegas (Dec 1-8) and then I'll be in Syd-er-nee from about Dec 10-14 to see U2 and some peeps. After that will be back in Brisvegas and looking for a place and seeing people a fair bit, but will try to get on at least nightly for an hour or 2. I figure after a week or so that should calm down a bit and I will have more time. Hopefully.

I'm not really familiar with play by email/forum, so I may need a walkthrough.

I have some passing familiarity with the WH40K universe though. :)

Play style ... will be somewhat dictated by the medium we're using ie forum posts or chat etc. I prefer a mix of character and plot driven, with high RP and streamlined combat as I prefer to role-play as opposed to roll-play.

Hehe, love the enthusiasm. Got your time down as sometime, for around about two hours, between 6pm and 10pm your time. ;)

As for play-by-post, it's fairly simple, but I'll be putting up guides and such. :p

Chat isn't feasible with the time zones thing, and although it makes games go faster, we also have limited resources on that front.

As for play, it will certainly be dice-free. I'm providing the plot shell, the guidelines, you guys are providing the filler. And although characters will have a limited amount of statistics, those are just so I can point out that your sword-wielding maniac could not, in fact, shoot a missile out of the sky. :D

As promised, I've provided some quick and dirty rules and a guide to play-by-post, complete with examples.

I'll be posting more info for you all regarding the setting, and the setup, including what will be required for character creation (as soon as I've figured out the exact requirements myself, of course).

You had me at WH40k.

However, time is going to be the sucks for me, especially commitment to X hours per day and/or time slots if we use chat as our choice for coms. Life looks busy and I won't be free around xmas, either, so for me, it doesnt matter much whether kick-off is early, mid or late december.

Might be best if I sit a first round out.

Also GMT on the nose.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I'm considering joining. I've been RPing on a PbP forum for several years now, although the setup is very different from this, as the entire board is dedicated to roleplaying (as such, there are categories for continents, and then forums within those categories for cities). That generally makes for long, more detailed posts, but that also causes things to move a lot slower than this game probably will.

If you need any help running it, I'd definitely lend a hand there. I'm not familiar with with WH40k setting, but I'm a moderator and have 4000 posts on the RP board I frequent, so I like to imagine that I know what I'm doing. Plus, special (mod-made) characters are always fun to play.

EDIT: GMT -6. Generally, I should be able to be on from around 6/8 PM GMT to 6 AM GMT, with even more time on weekends.

We won't be using chat, it's far too messy for organising time slots. It'll be like mafia...possibly *slightly* worse in terms of quantity of reading you may have to do, but we'll see how that goes.

Hehe. Hehehehehehe. Characters are going to be a wide range of options, though I'm going to say, less Space Marines are Better Space Marines, lol. Too imba hax for this type of thing. I will be posting the character setup stuff later in the day.

Uhm, ASAP? Sometime in the next week, week-and-a-half. I know these things lose traction if we leave it too long, so I'm gonna shift gears to get it up and running. :p

If that's too soon for you, second 'round' or intake will be early December it seems like, so you can always join then, too. :p
