well if you can draw on more warrens you can use diffrent ways of killing your opnets but the oldest rule is still "you cant use more power than your body can take" and thats the upper limit of a mage, so QB can hit (theorteicly) hit someone as hard with rashan as with 7 warrens used in one bolt. your skill with the warren you are using is also a factor.
i want to see this world where T'lan imass kneels

Must likely Quick wont do this. If you think about everything we know about Quick and the way he acts. The man is all about laying low, having control, out thinking people. Veering into a beastial form goes against this. It is a loss of control. Becoming less and more than a man.

Most mages can toy with and feel other warrens. Think of Corlo who knows and uses lots of warrens in MT.

However knowing a warren and being able to wield it with skill is two different things. Beak was, in my opinion, something approaching an idiot savant. Not autistic of retarded, just very differently put together upstairs. He had great tutors and noticing his talent they fed him with all the information he needed to become great. Beak just never had much ambition and as such he never grew.

Probably in the list of Elder Gods who might have been behind Gothos in the MT Prologue.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Absolutely it would be against his nature, but there have been times when he's had to go against his nature, just because of pure necessity. Hopefully SE will do this let us have a moment when this happens and QB turns into a major badass haha.

D'rek's Draconic tree is a tad more accurate I believe, that's the one I went and read. Also, it was stated that the three sons of Darkness did have a father, and it was perhaps this that lead them to turn their backs on Mother Dark. One of the coolest revelations in RG.

I see what you're saying with Beak now, I get it

D'rek's Draconean tree makes no claims of accuracy, but it *is* orange :D

Oh, and Sechul Lath is only mentioned, as you thought Apt, by Gothos when thinking about what Elder God was approaching him from behind. The fact that Sechul isn't on Baruk's tree kind of lends veracity to the idea that he's a super-FA (kind of like a Rake equivalent), as that would probably mean he's second-generation, and thus not one of the non-race-affiliated Elder Gods, thus not on the tree, but still an Ascendant from the Eldering times and thus often grouped with them, perhaps like Hood as the Death-wanderer, or that obscure ref to D'rek being old by Banaschar.

Grizzin Farl also isn't on the tree, and he's only mentioned in BH by Cotillion

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Just a wild thought . . .

Though Talamandas is not mentioned outside Memories of Ice, Quick Inbed Bed had a battery plant of power to draw from . . .
If there were no smart people others wouldn't feel inadequate.

Right?

Actually IIRC Talamandas was on loan to QB for a while, but once the Barghast gods were free, he went his own way. We might run into him in DoD though, since the Barghast are now on Lether...

We learned that Hood is in fact a Jaghut and most likely its his corpse sitting on the throne of ice.

We learned that Hood was probably once the king of ice and jaghuts. He gave up when the Imass killed his family

Wait, where was this stated? I don't remember ANY mention of this!

I understand both points about why RG was either a great book or dissapointing. Personally I felt RG was a very good book. Tavore's decision to head to Lether is still a mystery. Her plan of landing the Marines and burning the ships, stranding half her army and going David Copperfield on the other half makes me want to slam my head against a wall. And yet we get to see just what Malazan Marines are capable of. Watching each squad come to the realization that their plan won't work and they'll have to adjust tactics is great. The fact that they're still first into Lether, while Tavore thinks they're probably all dead, had me grinning like a stupid kid. Hedge coming back irked me a little.. I didn't like the explanation for why he returned to life.

We get background on how and why KE is fragmenting. A taste.. Some characters that were hinted at as being very powerful, like Ruin and the 3 sister Soletaken, were shown to be less formidable than SE had let on. I don't know if it's just time or their own arrogance that made them think they were all powerful, but clearly they hadn't been tested in a long time. The fact that QB take out three dragon soletaken floored me. I think we all knew he was powerful, but more an intelligent power than a raw strength. He's clearly an essential part to these books, so it makes sense that he'd continue to grow in power.

There are at least 100 more things I like about RG, but why keep going on. My vote is FOR RG!

We had Gethol talking about how Hood was a mirror to his face in MOI, and one of either Beak or Toc sees Hood with green fingers after their unfortunate demise.

Also Hood is called something ala "Hoary Bastard" once, Hoar or what ever it was being some clever word for frost.

wait....doesn't hoary mean "very very old"???.......
When a man lies he murders
Some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which
Men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear
To witness any longer
Cannot the kingdom of salvation
Take me home

Oh, it does, it does, but then someone made a clever connection with Hoar

http://www.merriam-w...thesaurus/frost

Crazy theory or Crazy Pun... your guess is not as good as Eriksons :(

Chambers dictionary says:

Hoar adj white or greyish-white, esp with age or frost (poetic);

It is more commonly used by Erikson to convey the age of something, and is certainly not excluseively used to describe hood.

For example, Gothos refers to the Elder gods as "Hoary old bastards" or somesuch in the MT prologue.
