Finally saw the finale 2hrs. While i think the entire evil-dudes-have-the-evil-computer-and-can-find-everyone-even-tho-FBI-and-T-888-can't thing came out of fairly nowhere, it was a satisfying conclusion.

The dynamic between Derek and John is interesting, and Cameron's plotline is really getting twisted in a good way. Utterly certain she's not dead tho the big kaboom ending sets up a plotline to fix her flesh-shell a la Cromartie next season, if we get a next season (ah Fox, how you annoy me...).

The scene with the FBI raid was great - there was no way they could do the sort of over-the-top violence the movie typically invoked when convential victims i mean forces went up against Terminators (see first movie, 'I'll be back...' - so showing it the way they did, with the FBI agents being pitched into the pool was a nice touch. And why WHY didn't Cromartie pull the trigger at the end there!!??!!

John became progressive less annoying over the series, the FBI agent's evolution to a believer has been fun to watch, and whoknew?, Brian Austin 'Beverly Hills 90210 was my life' Green can actually act.

- Abyss, hopes there's a next season.

I think he sees the FBI agent as a still useful person. Noone will believe him since he's the only survivor if he talks about cyborgs and what he's doing in his line of work(as far as the terminator is concerned) could expose the Connor's and make his job easier

As good as it is, I would be so surprised if it didn't get picked up. I don't know how it did ratings-wise though.

My sources are now hinting that while network public statement is a while away because of the post-strike mess and 're-prioritizing' (translation: MORE reality TV - MORE!!!), a second season is looking good, not least because one other network is practicaly falling all over itself to grab this if Fox let's it drop.

- Abyss, yes, i have 'sources'. I also have a web browser...

To be honest I don't really care one way or another it the series returns. I just wasn't feeling the story, there was no sense of impending doom for me. Nothing really happened in every episode.

Perhaps it would have been more dramatic if they'd ended te first season with timetravel instead of beginning the first episode that way. Neither the kid or the mom have the feeling of having used 15 years of their lives preparing for world war 3.

I think the story so far is lacking a real oposition, like a MIB type government crew working against the robots mean while attempting to catch them or something, I don't know, having one terminator on their heels just wasn't that scary.

If only there was some super-enemy, like maybe some kind of computer system that becomes self-aware, engineers the apocalypse, and creates an army of killer robots bent on destroying humanity, followed by inventing time travel for the purpose of sending robotic assassins into the past to kill the main characters. If only there was such an enemy!:(

Yeah, but that's the supposed feeling of impending doom that they're not doing a very good job of recreating.

I would be more impressed if Skynet knew they were in the future and there was terminators popping out of time bubbles around every corner. Big fights with multiple terminators every third episode, generally the characters being on the run and close to death all the time. Not living in a house attending school, seducing chess computer builders and having terminators practicing ballet instead of protecting the human meat sacks.

They did go a little overboard with the showing the humanity of the Terminator in that dancing scene.

I feel, if anything, there is too much time travelling going on. If it's this easy, there's no reason why an army of robots hasn't been sent back to kill them. And, they'll never be able to fix the plot hole of "if they can send a robot back to anytime, why not send one back to before Sarah Conner knows they are after her?

- slight thread necromancy

well, just sat down and watched the whole series back to back.
considering budget constraints, i think they did a damn fine job overall.
and lots of nice loose ends dangling - thank god there's gonna be a second series.

Seriously though, i know the writers strike got in the way, but the number of open plotlines is pretty astonishing:

Spoiler

anyways, quite a lot for a 9 episode series.

I'm looking fwd to the next season, mostly for the one plotline you didn't mention which is wtf is up with Cameron - the whole dancing and emotions thing.

I could care less about the High School plot - thoroughly unnecessary in a show about big nasty robots and 'splosions. Buffy got by because crazy shite happened at the school, not because her classmates de episode banged and felt angst about it.

- Abyss, wants the splody kicky stabby, not the wah.

Just managed to see the last episode. Thought it was excellent - the way Cameron regurgitated the lines her body double gave her all those years in the future worked really well. Does raise some questions about how Cameron knew all the things she did - there were a few things that she wouldn't have been able to glean just from the interrogation. Perhaps her thought patterns were downloaded into Cameron as well? But in that case there would have been no need for interrogation. Still, I really liked it, and I hope this doesn't get cancelled. Heroes is fun, but this is much better made and deserving of continuation. Were I in the US, I'd be watching this first and then watching Heroes later.

OK, a little thread necromancy here - just saw tonight's episode and thought it was fantastic. Gave a ton of insight into the characters of John, Derek and Jesse, some great info on what things were like in the post-Judgement Day era, and some really well crafted, highly charged scenes. The one with Derek and Jesse gave me shivers. This is the episode where John Connor, who has held all his fears and anger and regret tightly inside, lets a tiny trickle of emotion through. This is where John Connor becomes a leader. Loved it, and it would be a travesty if this show was cancelled.
