Green and Richard T Jones are by far the best actors on the show. Headey is pissing me off because she just DOES NOT fit Sarah Connor, especially as the titular character. She's just not a hardass, and her narration monologues are more annoying than anything because she doesn't have compassion in her voice either. Dekker is okay, and the finale was his best yet, but he's still too emo at times. Glau is Glau, she's good at playing a cute robotic character. Not bad, but not Arnold either.

I hope it continues, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if they recast Sarah Connor

Also, Luis Chavez(Morris) is pretty good. Wonder how it will pan out if they really do goto prom. Could add some comedy to offset the seriousness

Dude, they are SO not going to recast Sarah. Lena rocks! She's is bringing so much to the role that Hamilton never did. Linda Hamilton played the hardass for the whole flick, but Headley is bringing the hardass, but also the mother. I always felt that Linda Hamilton's portrayal of the character was WAY too one dimensional.

....and I really don't even think we need to go into Glau not being Arnie.....I mean jesus, I would SO not watch this show if the terminator was Arnie, or a look-alike arnie. He worked in one role....the first film. In the second it feels hackneyed at parts with him in the good guy role. Let's remember he ain't the best actor on the planet, meanwhile we get Summer Glau acting her ASS off. She brings so much to what can be a very complex character. The episode with the ballet comes to mind. The reason people like this show is because it is treading new ground away from the (let's face it) somewhat convoluted T2 and T3 storylines, and breathing new life into the grand sweeping arc of the story involved here.

As for Dekker, he can run circles around Edward Furlong's whining, screeching, pussified John Connor from T2. Sorry, but that kids' screeching in that flick pissed me right off. The future leader of the resistance he was not. Nick Stahl at least played Connor better in T3.

Oh, and can I say that Bruce Davidson showing up as the old Psych ward doctor kicked ass!

lena: shes too soft. they try to make her look tough by doing chinups on occassion, but she just doesnt fit as mother to humanities greatest hero

glau: acting her ass off? shes playing the same goddamn character she played in her only other major role. the only intriguing aspect about her is the fact that shes a woman and that her model seems to be able to have a "relationship". it adds potential storylines, but otherwise shes really not doing anything other actors can do in her place

dekker is better than furlong, sure, but hes still whiney at times, but getting better by the episode. he did not start out strongly at all, which was a hinderance to his character. i think he ended very strongly though, especially the scene with him and green at the park

Agreed, that scene at the park was well done, and both Dekker and Green were great in it.

We'll have to respectfully disagree about the other two. :(

Loved the last episodes. I hope we get more.

And I don't understand what you guys are whining about - all great actors and acting in this show. I'm impressed.

Am up to the ep before the finale.

The scene at the end with Cameron dancing ballet was one of the creepiest, most well done things i have seen on TV in ages.

Say what you will about Glau, the show is doing REALLY clever things with her character and she makes it work.

I'm hooked. If they don't bring this show back, i may have to travel back in time and watch it again.

just started showing on Virgin one in the UK.

watched the first two eps.

pretty solid so far. Bearing in mind how ropy first series of sci-fi shows usually are, this is looking pretty good.

Gordon bennet! I've seen the first 3 episodes so far and I think it is absolute shite. Summer Glau (or whatever her name is) is just the same mong faced character as she was in Firefly. I liked her in Firefly, but she annoys the hell out of me in this. The woman that plays Sarah Conner is really over-acting as well. It's just......awful. I'm disappointed but I'm going to keep putting myself through it in case it improves.

9, it finished this week with episode 8 and 9 airing back to back here in NA.

Despite it being listed as having more, writers strike ended it early.

I like the show since it's still following the general Terminator idea that no matter what they do, they are screwed.

It pales in comparison to T and T2, but I like it more than T3. Still not a great show, but good, and entertaining, especially since 24 wasn't on this year.

Watch T1 again. It's not as great as you remember. T2, however, is one of the best scifi movies ever, so it's only natural that a mere show can't compete.

I watched T1 a few weeks ago, and while it is not as great as most think, it is better than the TV show I think.

Sarah Conner Chronicles need to be grittier and darker, that's the only big complaint I have.

T1 is great because its part of the 80s era of gritty scifi including Bladerunner, Alien, Aliens, etc. We really haven't seen anything like it since Total Recall changed scifi from gritty to Verhoeven.

I'd like to add that Aliens 3 is vastly underrated as a gritty minimalist movie that did a lot with the crippled production of the movie. I'd like to see them make another direct sequel to Aliens using William Gibson's script for the movie, which is pretty damn good.

With the new AVP movie, it might be possible. Tt might not have been as gritty or good as the first two, but it was at least a step in the right direction, from Aliens 4 or AVP 1.

The Aliens/Predator fanchise is pretty much reduced to a fanboy/producer driven wreck which will never hit the cheese glory levels of the early films.

A point made above about T1 pretty much nails it: watch it again and it's not as good as you remember.

ALIEN and ALIENS were brilliant dark sf movies, a suspense thriller and an actioner respectively. 3 was weak, 4 was awful barely saved by some decent effects.

PREDATOR was a cheesy Ah-nold actioner and fun only for it's own sake. PREDATOR 2 was mediocre verging on bad but fanboys who would grow up to be producers wet themselves when the producers stuck an Alien head on the trophy wall right at the end.

Add to that that in the late 80s, the Aliens and Predator comics by Dark Horse were novel, different, and unlike anything being produced at that time - great art, stories that were pulled right out of the movies... this was a huge kick for 14yr olds who had seen the flics and basically built Dark Horse up from a zero art house comic producer. And then, pre-Aliens3, Dark Horse even released an ALIENS V PREDATOR comic that was awesome good fun for what it was, complete with lead female Ripley-as-a-ninja character who killed predators with her sword and aliens with cattle stampedes. THAT became the first AvP screenplay (google around and you'l find it, it's a fun read).

The things is, people tend to blend together in their heads just how staggeringly amazing ALIEN/ALIENS were with the fun or PREDATOR and all the really mediocre-to-crap that came after.

Similarly was Terminator. T1 is a great fun action flic with some bad acting and for their time cool effects with a blow your mind time travel ending twist.
T2 was basically 'glory-that-is-Ah-nold' with cooler effects and a great great badguy. It was a great fun movie that you walked out of feeling totally pumped (pun intended if you caught it). T3 was just all kinds of awful, imnsho.

But you look at Alien, Aliens, Predator, T1 and T2 and everything that followed after and it seems to me at least it's pretty clear various elements of Hollywood and others are just trying to capitalize on something(s) that has already passed, rather than look for new/cool properties that can hit the same heights.

Which brings us to the TERMINATOR: TSCC - as sf tv goes, i think this is pretty good. Decent storyline, a few fun twists, well shot action scenes and good potential for an over-reaching plot complicated enough to satisfy the geek legions without loosing the average tv watcher who sort of remembers T2 was a good movie. It's not BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, which is probably just as well because that, like LOST, is at risk of drowing in its own mythology, but it's certainly better than BIONIC WOMAN (gag, retch), DAYBREAK, INVASION/THRESHOLD/SURFACE and other bad sf on tv offerings. I liken it to BUFFY or BABYLON 5... if given a chance, it will only get better. On the other hand, it could be another JOURNEYMAN, which was good but never had the chance to grow.

I'm totally with you on that one. Bionic woman, and (horror) painkiller jane makes me want to kill myself - or eat babies. Or both.
